Hi, First time poster here! I am looking to get a new driver but have a recession hit budget of £40. I have tried a couple of square drivers at range and love the feel at address! I have found the Ben Sayers M2 square driver at American golf for £39.99 and wondered if this would be a solid option. I play off 19. Be interested in any thoughts and advice, cheers Thorpie

I once bought a HIPPO driver for £9.99 via mail order (one of those adverts e.g WAS £99.99 yours for only £9.99 etc etc) Well, after having it as a spare in my bag for 4years, I still cant hit it!

So beware of the bargain basement offers and clubs, safety first and go second hand! ;-)

I buy a lot of my kit from onlinegolf (great company) and recently received their weekly newsletter offering a Ram FX driver for £9.99 so I ordered 2 of them. Gave my son one as a birthday present (didn't tell him the price I paid :)) but he had the last laugh as he hit's it a mile and regulaly out drives me :(!

I also sold the other one in the local paper for £30 quid..... not a bad deal at all!

Why not extend to £49 and buy the Yonex from online golf.

If not, there are bargains out there.

The M2 is OK, but not a patch on the "benny".

Avoid the horrible Nicklaus stuff if in AG.

What about an old-model driver. The Callaway 454 was a great driver - they're now dirt cheap. G10s are selling for between £50-60 in the papers.

I'd definitely vote for the G10 if you can find one that matches your price range. If not and you know what make or model you want just see whats online. I'm sure you'll find something decent. If you take your time you'll miss the post strike too !

If you can't get a G10, look out for a G5 - just as good but cheaper.
Most G10's go on ebay for around £80-£100 so that might not work.
Could also be some TaylorMade's around at that money seeing as they bring a new one out every week....
