BRS

We introduced it at my club a couple of months ago. Absolutely HATE it!! I can't plan my golf 8 days in advance due to the nature of my job but now nearly all the tee times get booked up for each day within minutes of the system going live. All it has done is introduce problems that never existed. If I wanted to book 8 days in advance I would have joined the local municipal.

I pay £1100 a year for the privilege of being a member of a private club and I can now barely get on the course.

WORST THING EVER TO HAPPEN AT MY CLUB!

we don't have any type of booking system only the comp sheets,we have a restricted membership and its turn up and play when ever you fancy a game except wed morning as its ladies till 1 we only have societies for limited times so never had a problem playing i would hate to play at a club that i had to pre book to have a knock.

Why not book a time you think you might make, you can always remove your name closer to the time if need be? I would guess you are the exception to the rule in your club (not a dig) perhaps it suits more people than it doesnt?

I have spoken to many members since this new system was introduced. 2 have been in favour (the Chairman and one other), a few people are indifferent and then literally dozens of people who hate it. It was introduced by our new general manager without any consultation with the membership. I fully appreciate that the GM/committee have to make some decisions off their own back but my understanding is that anything major should go to a membership vote. When I spoke to the GM, he told me this is not a significant change. It's significant enough in my opinion to cause me to leave the club.

And booking tee times 'just in case' isn't really the solution, that is just abuse of the system.

If all your tee times are fully booked all of the time, then your course must be heaving with people playing ... How would you get to play if the system didn't exist ?

That is a fair reply and perspective. For comparison, it didnt require a vote either. The existing system of having people physically turn up on a thursday was just too demanding for a load of guys who were perhaps still in work, commuting or eating their dinner (6pm of all times!). We also have a very busy competition day on Saturdays, so much so that we had to spill over into Fridays also.

I think the booking system has lead to more traffic on the course. People are booking times now to make sure they have one if they want to play then feel obliged to use it or they risk going onto the bad boys register and being banned from making future bookings for a period of time. The course wasn't overly busy prior to this introduction.

If HS2 goes ahead and plought right through the middle of Aylesbury Park G C, then we will be looking for a new club, and I can tell you now that if it doesnt have a booking system, its not going to be on the shortlist.

I organise golf around my work, so I need to know that I can start at a certain time , so I can be finished by a certain time,

I cant afford to turn up and hang around for an hour waiting for a gap

the bay is just a case of ring up to book your tee times which i am happy with as my old club was literaly turn up and wait, which was annoying in summer time and part of the reason i left
