Broken rib

A few days ago, I was in the garden and slipped on the decking and fell flat on my back with a thud. Was pretty sore then but 2 nights later, I coughed and it felt like someone had shot me in the back. Turned out to be a broken rib, which displaced with the cough.

They say a broken rib is very painful. They are right. Last night was the first decent nights sleep in a few, a couple of which were spent sitting in a chair in the living room because I couldn't lie down. No chance of swinging a golf club anytime soon.

Thats going to mess your game up for a few weeks mate

bad luck, still at least its the best time of year to do something like that, the next 6 weeks are likely to be wet , windy and cold.

Broken ribs are very painfull. I've broken a few over the years the worst of which was when I broke 2 ribs on each side of my sternum and dislocated another. Probably the most painfull break I have had for the lenght of time it takes for the pain to subside. Good luck fella and let it heal fully before you play.

The worst bit was the unpleasant sound and sensation of the ends of bone crunching on each other. Not so bad today with powerful analgesics.

Take your time & don't rush it.
I broke two of mine playing football in th 70's, only one sub in those days & he was already on. Being an idiot I continued playing for the last 10 mins (after I had started breathing again).
It wasn't until 48 hours later that the hospital confirmed my fears.
Not even I would be so stupid again.

I wouldn't bother going to your GP either. They are useless and won't even bandage it these days!

I 'popped' one a while ago and can sympathise. You'll find there's all sorts of activities it affects!
