Well, what a day. Was up at 7 to get down to Thornbury for our 9am tee time on their 18 hole par 3 course (more on that in a mo)....which would be followed by 18 holes on their 'big' course after a short lunch break.

Firstly, the par 3 course is awesome. Some great holes and really is a test on your short game. It's where I will be honing my short game skills in months to come. Shot a fairly dire 16 over par but had some cracking shits in difficult conditions.

The main 18 wasn't much better. After starting the round with a 9 on the par 5 first (3 off the tee, duffed my next 2 yards after fatting it)...I ended up 21 over for the round. Again, some nice shots here and there (my drive on 17 was especially pleasing), but all in all, left too many shots on the course.

To top it off, my strap broke on the 12th he coming in. Luckily I have Izzo straps and the 'bottom' one was still intact so I managed to carry it with that, but still a massive inconvenience!

All in all, a very enjoyable day though. I am, however, totally and utterly broken now! I have a new found respect for the people that did the Macmillan longest day challenge!
Football training is going to be interesting tomorrow!

Wait, so what you're saying is you played six holes with a single strap bag? Right enough, are you sure you didn't need hospital treatment after that "ordeal"?

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I played 24 holes with a broken strap. Wasn't a massive problem, but with the weight of my bag (my new one will be smaller), two straps is pretty much a must at all times!

You are right about playing four rounds. I carried for all four last year but this year whimped out and used a trolly after two. I have had a trolly breakdown on me and had to wheel it around with no power and had a strap go and it really mucks your game up. Its such an effort to push the trolly and inconvenient trying to carry the bag and I don't know if it was just me but I seemed to hit further and further offline and so had to walk even further to my ball
