At last, things have clicked!
A new competition best for me, medal off the whites. :D

I won’t bore you with all the details but if I can indulge myself over few holes:

Solid tap-in par on the first, my last two competitions I’ve started with triple bogey 8s.

Slice of outrageous fortune on the 475 yard par 4 eighth when I hooked one, not into the trees but over the trees, over the ditch and sitting nicely on the thirteenth fairway. Hit a blind shot with my hybrid over conifers to 6 feet, I did have the decency to lip out on the birdie putt though.

Thirteenth, in a fairway bunker off the tee, caught the lip being a bit too greedy but came out, pulled a simple 8 iron into the rough and short sided myself, then played the shot of the round with my gap wedge to a foot for bogey.

Fourteenth, par 5, good drive, peach of a 3 wood to the green but criminally left the uphill eagle putt short, birdie.

Held my nerve to par the last three holes, 39 out, 39 in for 78 net 66, I need a lie down.

Cheers Imurg, you're right of course, it must be the ProVs, except I started with and NXTS as the first hole is such a danger hole for OB and then as I was going along nicely I stuch with it all the way.

Just been invited to a BBQ, the day gets better and better!

Thanks all, just back from the BBQ, where nobody was really interested in golf so didin't want to hear how great I was, but now sat here with another cold beer and still grinning from ear to ear.

Assuming CSS stays at 72, which is where it was when I left, then I'll get a 1.2 cut. :)

Really well done Nick. Fantastic shooting, you'll have to steer clear of me from now on as I seem to put a curse on you and drag you down to my level. Single figures coming up soon.

Results are up on HDID:

I won by 2
1.2 cut
And probably most pleasing, I was fifth lowest gross out of a field of 117 (we've not got many Cat 1 players).

Congratulations that man. Another 0.1 for me in the medal but a bogey, double, double start didn't help but was back to level handicap by 8. Another double from nowhere and then a show stopping 8 on 14 killed me. Just making too many basic errors but the ball striking is getting there. Glad you are on a roll and hope you can get a new PB off the lower handicap mark!
