You can do it for sure - but in my opinion it won't just happen. You have to be thinking birdie on most holes and playing smart when
there is danger lurking.
I have broken 80 3 times in the last two seasons, and there is a mental concept that has helped me immensely, which is focusing on
the target that I wish to hit and not thinking of any swing mechanics at all. It's OK to have a swing thought, preferably one about
rhythm, but nothing too technical and definitely only one at a time. So before every shot I ask "what is my target" and "what kind of shot will I play to get it there" - once I decide on these two things I'm all set. It has helped me tremendously.
