As some of the regulars will know. I have been struggling to get under 100 gross. I've got close with a 103 and a 101.

Went out today, (we'll for-go the pros and cons about the conditions, as my views on this are already posted elsewher, and the course is being completely changed for the spring season). Ground frozen solid, greens fully covered in frost and damn cold.

Upshot is that I grossed 99 on the par 70 competion course and consequently played within the buffer zone for the first time ever. Scored 34 stableford, which is my highest ever.

It might not seem much to some of you, but playing conditions were dire and it's a first sub 100 for me!

:D :D :D

you beat me to it, HH, fingers crossed I won't be far behind you.

I have the confidence to do it, just need to get over the back spasm and get out there and do it!!!

Well done!!!

Always knew you could do it, it was just a question of when. Now this land mark is out of the way, the monkey off your back so to speak, you will probably find it a lot easier.

That said, don't be suprised if the next round is 150 plus, golf is like that.

I'm not expecting it to happen regularly, or to now stay under it. But at least I know that I can do it!

Those that have played with me know just how difficult this was for me. Yes I can play some cracking shots occasionally, but I do have a habit of just being crap. So being able to string a 45 for the front 9 is rather satisfying.

Many thanks for the words of encouragement over the last few months particularly.

Great news. Always good to break those seemingly illusive barriers. I am sure that your scoring will improve here and now.

Good stuff.

blimey Helpless, are you my long lost golf twin!?!?

When I first went sub 100 it was great- I'm between 90 and 100 now, and I don't think i've slipped back over... yet!
If you do, don't worry- play often enough and you will be down to 90s, and maybe late 80's before you know it.

I went through my last 3 cards, and if I'd played the best hole from each card on the same round I would have hit 81... Just a shame that consistency is the thing seperating us from the pros- we all have the shots- its just stringing them together!

So, what does this tell me?

FIR not much different.
GIR improved - despite todays conditions.
Putts marginally improved.
Par scrambles unchanged.
Penalties improved by a couple.
And not on here, but average score was 109.95 for last year.
So, not much changed statisicly, but one hell of a different score??

Statistics eh!! (But I wouldn't be without 'em).

(I feel kinda naked with such black and white figures being on here. It means I can't blag it any more!!)

Well done. I was due to play in my monthly stableford but went to bed feeling rough last night and woke up with this cold/stomach bug thing that is doing the rounds. Have to play tomorrow as it is the winter knockout and all matches have to be played by tomorrow or we get d/q'd

I like the SS2 stats but the one that stands out the most for me on there is your putting. If you can get that average below 36 and then work on it until its around 34 you will be shooting into the low 90's easily

The two 8's stand out to me as where you can improve, the rest is fine, but cut those 8's to 6's, and thats another 4 shots to play with. Now we are talking breaking 95 ish.
