Brand Loyalty?

I like having a mixed bag and could never think of having a full putter-driver matching set think it would look a little chav like lol.

End of the day Pro's get pushed to sign 14 club contracts but given the choice they would only sign 9. Just look at the Open champ anyone else notice him and Casey using the same Nike SQ 3 wood!

I always look at mizuno irons before any other brands but woods i have no particular preference though i wont buy TM the overpriced shoite.

I will be treating myself to some new irons soon and i will defo try the cobra s2 forged irons they do look superb.

Now pretty much Titleist woods and Mizuno irons.

Unlike brendy, I think the Titleist woods are the business, particularly if a bit of care is taken with choice of shaft and loft.

I love Mizuno irons, and have gone back to blades recently, like those I used 20+ years ago.

When I'm looking for new clubs I tend to go with the magazine reviews then try the top rated 3-4 manufacturers models for my handicap and then choose what I feel I hit the best.

That's how I chose the clubs I have now from when I first stated playing as I had no real history or knowledge apart from what I could get from the mags.

Although now if it's like any of my other hobbies then once I'm happy with a brand I tend to stick with it until something makes me want to change.

So I've got my eye on some i15 irons at the end of this season. :D Promised myself I wouldn't change my clubs mid-season.

Im not really playing long enough to stay loyal to any brand but i have a slight bit of OCD when it comes to clubs....I prefer having them all matching....
So at the moment i have Cobra S2 Irons,A cobra S2 3 wood.. A 3R Cobra baffler and im soon adding a 5 wood and an S2 Driver from the same range.....
Also there's a cart bag in the mix but only because my wilson one doesn't have seperate compartments for each club...Its driving me mad when you go to pull a club and 3 come with it

It is hard to look past Titleist, but I am coming round to Nike at the moment. Luckily, I don't need (or want) to change anything. Still fancy a Nike VR 4 wood though. Silly thing golf. Always something on the radar.

Only thing I've seen recently that I "fancied" was a Cobra ZL driver. Sounded awesome, and went really well for the couple of times I hit it.
But I'll stick with my G10 'cos I'm an old dodderer

Tm man through and through, just seems when ever i try something newer than what i have it suits me even more, Although im not 100% hooked on my choice of rossa putter.

the only think in my bag that isnt tm is a vokey wedge, with another on the way. other than that its tm all the way.

This year i've changed:

Driver: G5 8.5 Stiff for a Burner 9.5 Stiff - extra 20 yards on my drives and more consistant.

3w/5w: from TM supersteel to TM burners, a little shorter but more forgiving.

Irons: TM susperstell Stiff to TM 09 burners Steel. A little longer on tho nothing like the adverts say, but again alot more forgiving.

Its very rare that i dont hit long par'4's/par5's in two, so for me distance isnt the major issue. My score card drops when my shorts are from short grass, and it seems TM are working major on forgiveness, which in turn inspires faith to really want to rip the ball.

At the moment im torn between Prov1's and TM Burner TP, if im honest id love to change to penta's as this were amazing, but im wiating for things to become a little more consistant, if they grant me the offical h/c of 12 (which was my taregt for the end of 2010) then im swapping over.

I'd go somewhere like the Belfry, where they have multiple brands and models, and talk to the pro who's doing my fitting about what I want/need.
Then I'd hit as many suitable choices as they have and whittle my down to the correct club.
That's what I did to get my current bats & if need be that's what I'd do in the future.

No, but if I don't hit a club too well I don't buy it.

When I got my driver we went through the stats for my current club (Nike Ignite, 9.5*, reg shaft) and decided what sort of loft and shaft was most suitable. He then went off and got 6 or 7 drivers for me to try. I then whittled then down to either the Callaway or the Titleist from that time (902?).

Some of the ones I discounted due to not hitting them well were the TM superquad, Nike Sasquatch (which my coach thought was the best driver around), Cleveland Hibore, Ping G something.
So he was giving me the choice of most manufacturers.

Unless I've had problems with quality from a brand or poor customer service I couldn't give a monkey's who's name is on it if it works!

When I went to change irons I asked my mate who manages my local American Golf to tape up EVERYTHING that had minimal or no offset with a steel shaft. Only proviso was no Nicklaus sets.

Currently the bag contains Nike, Cleveland, Adams, Mizuno, Titleist and Taylor Made. That's in a Callaway stand bag. Why? Because everything in there does the job it needs to better than everything else I tested at the time of purchase.

Being a brand sheep who'll only look at 1 manufacturer's clubs is just plain thick in my opinion. The only proviso I'll now add to any future sets of irons I buy is they must be forged. Cast is just wrank in comparison.

I love the look of Mizuno irons, so much so that I've promised myself a set when I get my h'cap down to 15. I've even gone to the extent of getting a Mizzy cart bag so that I constantly remind myself of what I'm aiming for.

When I see a bag full of Mizuno, Nike, Titleist, Taylormade etc I just think CHAV!!!

Don't know why but I just imagine these folk wearing matching (fake) undercrackers and tracksuits with gold chains and a gold tooth.

strange concept ken, its weird because when i was a juniour player my mates mum purcahsed him the new Bigbertha irons (when they first come out) alot with matching woods and bag. i had the same opinion as you "why buy matching, he couldnt hit any of them" now im in the same position with a matching bag from the same brand although not all models are the same, IE my 3/w & 5/w are 08 spec, driver 09 spec irons 09 spec, 7w 06 spec.

OI! I'll have you know that my underwear is NOT fake!

Since Lynx aren't really available any more and aren't..er...top of the range, if/when I change my irons (would be rude not to eventually!), I will look at all brands (except Callaway) and see what I hit best.

Most of your bag is Titleist are you a chav :D :D

It's all down to one person I know - proper chavtastic - all Cally stuff from trousers to driver - with the exception of the ebay balls.

He bought balls on ebay and then sent a load of them to me - I sent him a text to say cheers for them and asked him why he gave them away - he replied 'Only kept the ProV1's coz they are the best'
I replied '10 of the 30 u sent me whare Prov1's - I will keep them for you'
When I gave them back to him he was utterly confused - 'How can you have a number 3 ProV1'???

He had took all the number 1 balls and chucked the rest of them thinking they where not Prov1's.

To me that's the sort of people that have matching bags, and the same mfr the whole way through their sets - its people with no notion whatsover who try to buy their game.
