Just reading Mark Broadies every shot counts and think it's great. i think it wouldn't be to everyones tastes but is a bit of an eye opener on how much people over emphasise putting as be all and end all of good scoring. It plays a part no doubt but the average difference in putts between a player who scores 100 and one who scores 80 is 3 strokes- so 17 other strokes lost elsewhere

I read it last year.
He proves that McIlroy is a rubbish putter.
As it Adam Scott, Westwood (which we all knew anyway) and Sergio (which we also knew).

It also proves that for a professional it is better to be 330 yards down there in the rough, than 265 in the middle of the fairway.
It's all about how many shots it will take (on average) to complete the hole from where you have just hit it to. That's what strokes gained is all about.

A Good Walk Spoiled: Days and Nights on the PGA Tour - by John Feinistein

Ok - it's getting on a bit and you might not know many of the players of the 1996 era - but you'll know them when you've finished it.

Both very painful and joyous at times - a great insight into the pressures faced by Pros - on; climbing onto; and falling off, of the main PGA tour. Never again will you complain about what that missed putt on the 18th has cost you.

Forgot about this one. A brilliant book with a shocking ending. After I read it in 2015 I e mailed him to say how much I'd enjoyed it. Finished up playing with him in the Doug Mc.Clelland charity golf day. The follow up book "Inside" is equally good, though not about golf. He's a member of this forum, although he rarely posts. http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/member.php?18255-Hoskison

Both books are available on Kindle
