Going skiing at the end of march and looking for a couple of books to read as with 2 kids the après ski won't be happening!

One novel and one golf related would be great and preferably on kindle if available.

Over to you guys,

I mostly deal in crime and thrillers. So you can't go wrong with Ian Rankin, especially the Rebus series, in my opinion. Also the Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbo and the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffrey Deaver are very good. As actually are his non Lincoln Rhyme books as they all zip along. The Snowman by Jo Nesbo and The Bone Collector by Deaver are great places to start. Harlen Coben is also good, especially 'Tell No One' which is a great read

The DI Thorne series by Mark Billlingham are great (don't let the TV series put you off) and Linwood Barclay books are a good read. Finally 'A Place of Execution' by Val Mcdermid was a memorable book.

Can't help you with any golf books I'm afraid, but '4 iron in the Soul' is on my list of books to read soon.

Go for a Lee Childs or Steve Berry both really good writers and get you right into the storey.

Golf related I just finished Feinstein tales from Q School really good read.

Just finishing To The Linksland by Michael Bamberger.
Written in 1993 is a good read of an American journalist caddying on the European Tour and playing Scottish links courses[4iron in the Soul type.]
Crosses my life's paths in a few places which made it more interesting.
Well written and absorbing.

Mad Bad and Dangerous to know, Sir Ranolph Fiennes autobiography is a decent read.

Sam Snead. The Education Of A Golfer.

Available on Kindle for pennies as well.
Only took me a few days to read though, so you might want another one.

Cant go wrong with any of Lee Child - Reacher series. There's sort of a reading order but it doesnt really matter how you read them.
Any by Linwood Barclay are other high recommendations.

Some good crime writers in there. You could try Henning Mankell, who writes the Wallender books. Currently reading 'The troubled man' which is good so far.

Trouble is that I've seen all the Wallender TV shows, so I expect I will remember the endings for a lot of them. Normally I avoid TV adaptations of crime books like the plague as they are never anywhere as good. But I think Kenneth Branagh is a class act and superb as Wallender, so every time I would read a book I would just have his image in my brain.

That is why I avoided the DI Thorne TV series, The DCI Banks series and also The Wire in the Blood shows as I have an image of who Thorne, Banks and Tony Hill are. And I do not want to start picturing Robson or bloody Jermome, Steven Tompkinson or David Morrisey every time I read a new book in the series.

Hugely funny book about a rubbish golfer who, after getting hit on the head by a golf ball, finds that he suffers from Tourette's Syndrome and also finds it impossible to hit a bad shot!
The language is obviously a bit strong so don't let the kids read it!

Sorry, I was agreeing with your list, and then adding an extra one for Evesdad. It does look like I am recommending it to you.

I have not seen the Wallender series on TV. I have watched the DCI Banks one though, and Steven Tompkinson is nothing like the character in the books.

I've just finished reading "Wolf of Wall Street". It's not going to win a pulitzer but it's a pretty amazing story. Martin Scorsese is making a film based on it at the moment which I think could have the potential to be as good as if not better than Gooodfellas.

I agree with Harlan Coben and Lee Child recommendations.

The Camel Club series by David Baldacci is excellent.
As is the Sean King and Michelle Maxwell series by the same author.
John Puller series is a complete rip off of Jack Reacher, but still a good read.

Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn is ace. Start with American Assassin - it's a prequel and in chronological order would be the first book.

Can't help with a golf book. Closest I've come to reading one is picking up "how I play golf" by Tiger Woods in a charity shop for £2. I've looked at it twice and it sits on my shelf gathering dust.

Thanks guys some great ideas!

I've not watched the last wallander series so that's one to look for.

Also reminded my ive got a couple of jo nesbo books to get through too.

I like Harlan coburn but didn't like the bolatar series.

Golf wise looks like the Sam Snead one and the amateurs get the nod.

Thanks again!

Read this book ages ago, very funny, this is why you carry a spare golf glove.:D

Previously recommended on here and I loved it is My Baby Got The Yips. Excellent read.

I'm going away next week and have a copy of that book to take with me!
I've heard it's very good, looking forward to lounging round a pool with a cold beer & a good book under a beautiful blue sky .
