Bond with spoilers. Don't not enter if you don't know or don't want to know the plot

This for me. Bond isn't dead. They will either completly ignore what happened or he will have been thrown into the water, picked up by a passing fishing boat and re-emerge.

I have been desperate to open this thread but couldn't until this morning, saw it last night. I thought it was a major disappointment. No blockbuster opening scene , do they not know how Bond films work? Bond goes lovey dovey and introspective? Bond goes dull.

The film was flat, it was just missing stuff. And they killed Felix! Why kill Felix? Just not bring in a new one next film. Okay, they can bring in Dwayne or Kevin or Catilyn or whoever but it wont give everyone the same feeling as when Felix appeared. You knew Bond could trust Felix, he was one of the few in any Bond film that he could rely upon.

Even Rami Malik went tamely at the end. Was that the best they could do?

I mention elsewhere, maybe I will mellow with a second viewing in a few years time but for now this was easily the most forgetable film of the Daniel Craig era. Disappointing.

It was pretty epic opening no? Jumping off a bridge

Shooting out the car

I thought was really good

It took an age to get to that and then it was only fairly brief. Think back to past Bond films of this era, the Mexican festival, the chase that ends with Moneypenny shooting him, Q & S was an epic car chase. High octane stuff straight away. This one was a 30mph zone going through a village in comparison. It could have been really good but they should have gone to the action must quicker.

i really wanted to love it but agree with the negative comments. A real lack of "good" action, poor script and story and ridiculous ending. The humour also seemed very flat

I'd quite like a reboot where they go back and set it in the 60s again. I'm a sucker for retro nonsense.
I went with my son (aged 19) who said that he can't get his head around anyone other than Craig playing bond. How quaint.

He walked around with a mask on for 5 minutes, then a building fell down for no reason. Good score tho.

I'm very confused with the timeline. Casino royal was #1, so are we saying all other bond films fell in the 6 years between that and this?

There was colour and vibrancy and a buzz from the beginning though, even when he was just walking around.

In terms of time lines, I wouldn't go too deep into that. I think you are right but these thinks are always a little loose. Do any of these films really stand up to close analysis? Can the bad guys really be so appalling at aiming when they shoot? I thought it went very John Wick at the end.

As I said before, I consider it a reboot whenever they change the actor to be honest. I mean you don't talk about timelines with all the different batman films or all the Spiderman films, it's the same thing for me. Anything before Craig is irrelevant in the Craig Bond Universe.

Yes and no
Q was the same actor for years giving the impression it was the same character

Keeping dame Judy as M from brosons bond made it confusing but can't beat the legend

So been catching up on bond

Craig is in my top 2 bonds

Not one of his films I didn't enjoy

The second is Dalton .. both his films were gritty , well made and good story

Bronson has a special place for just Goldeneye what a film but his rest weren't great

Rest were good but had one average one

For me anyways.

Might be my age tho as I grew up seeing them after the era they were made

So we finally watched it last night and thought it was a good film, was really surprised by the end as we had avoided all spoilers!
Sure the film is too long but that seems to be common nowadays, and 3 villains in one film all with facial disfigurements! (C’mon guys at least try something different, maybe throw one of the woke characters into the role instead of the usual 30-50 yr old White men!)

Thought Paloma was ?, and would definitely like to see more of her!

So what of the future? As has been said Bond is a bit of an anachronism now so I think the only logical way around it is more films set in the 60s and 70s. Put a younger actor into the role so it’s not cringey when he’s hitting on women, pop a cigarette back into his mouth and as Sean Connery might say…Schplendid!
