Bond with spoilers. Don't not enter if you don't know or don't want to know the plot

Wouldn't mind that

007 could be anyone

Bond is a character type and tbh the womanising , drinking etc does that fit in the world now? Pc nightmare

So rather than try and make bond watered down just new character
I don't think it's all that bad as long as they steer clear of the rapey vibes from the 60s/70s editions where he really did force himself on women. I don't think Craig's Bond had any iffy moments like that.

Just want to add that I was very wrong last year. I felt that, at the end of the first lockdown, film companies had a duty to release some big named films to get people back and help support cinemas. At the time I mentioned this very film as one that should have been released and I called the studio every name under the sun for holding it back time and time again.

Given the subject matter, I can now fully understand why it would have been, at least, insenitive to release it at the time and, with some of the nutters around, potentially dangerous. I am guessing the studio took a lot of flack but they did not reveal the plot to deflect some of that negative press.

So, I was wrong and thumbs up to the studio for doing the right thing and for taking the grief to keep the plot a surprise.

Spot on

I thought this might have been the case and was confirmed to me in a trailer with "if you target enough people they become the weapon"

Very much too close to home then

Talking about the film generally, did anyone else think he was a bit hasty at writing off his family when he had the virus? Just because they didn't have a cure immediately surely things might have changed if he waited long enough.

To be fair the bombs were seconds away, he was shot to bits litterally and q said it was impossible and he is a genius

Think he made the right decision

I guess it is more dramatic obviously. But I was fully waiting for the Dark Knight Rises style reveal of Bond sitting in a cafe at the end having miraculously escaped, ha.

Speaking of which did you notice hanz Zimmer did the music? And we didn't get much of the bond style music when something amazing happened more batman undertones

Brave decision to kill off the main character, where do they go from here.

Bond was almost like Dr Who in different actors continuing the story, but they have now cut the timeline, so all they can do is to go back in time.

But that leaves the question “where will the franchise be in 20 years time” ?

How can it progress now?

They brought back Felix from the dead to die again

Same as always appoint a new actor and ignore what had gone before.

007 is not dead but Bond is. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Who actually saw Bond Dying. We knew Daniel Craig was playing his last role as Bond but no one suspected he would be toast. Which leaves me thinking they already know what they are going to do and who is going to do it. It is six years between Spectre and no time to die. The longest ever between Bond films. Obviously Covid had a big say in that. But Ave a feeling that the owners of the Bond franchise have got a massive cash cow rolling again and will want to cash in ASAP.
I cannot wait to see who plays the next 007/Bond role Or the fanfare that will follow the release of 00. Big names have been mentioned but when Craig was announced as Bond I think most thought who? Come what may they have to be British.

As a side note I thought some of the trailers looked very good indeed. The Ghostbusters film looked a very good spin of how the original film has morphed in a way Bond/007 could.

Original actors returning

Which trailer is that PJ

when the credits were rolling there were quite a few folks hanging around. Apparently at the end of the credits there was a clue?
We never say it.

Trailer is on YouTube. You can hear Dan ackroyd at the end but all of the surviving cast appear apparently.

I think that there is room for a few things to run concurrently, Bond films, 00 Films and maybe even young Bond films in an expanded universe. Do not forget that Amazon has recently bought the studio and so my feeling is that we could be seeing a mix of films and TV shows set in an expanded universe.

what i have been saying for ages. This is a massive under-exploited franchise. We need a James Bond reboot with a new actor. The Craig "verion" has been permanently retired. We need a new James bond with a new actor and then need spin offs with other 00s, a young James bond series - or 2 or 3 - end of school and military training, another with him training and entering MI5 etc etc. I love the franchise and would welcome multiple versions

This for me. Bond isn't dead. They will either completly ignore what happened or he will have been thrown into the water, picked up by a passing fishing boat and re-emerge.

I have been desperate to open this thread but couldn't until this morning, saw it last night. I thought it was a major disappointment. No blockbuster opening scene , do they not know how Bond films work? Bond goes lovey dovey and introspective? Bond goes dull.

The film was flat, it was just missing stuff. And they killed Felix! Why kill Felix? Just not bring in a new one next film. Okay, they can bring in Dwayne or Kevin or Catilyn or whoever but it wont give everyone the same feeling as when Felix appeared. You knew Bond could trust Felix, he was one of the few in any Bond film that he could rely upon.

Even Rami Malik went tamely at the end. Was that the best they could do?

I mention elsewhere, maybe I will mellow with a second viewing in a few years time but for now this was easily the most forgetable film of the Daniel Craig era. Disappointing.
