Boat race ruined...

On a more serious note why should the BBC waste public money on this non event. The 16 rowers are not even very good when it comes to world class standards.
Two universities why?
At least make it more interesting and open up the competition to some other universities, heats and final. Half a dozen boats in the final would make it lively. Especially if they had spikes on the ends of thier oars and a ramming bow.

Top Gear could enter a team.
Depth charges, surface to surface missiles and Hamster as a machine gun totting cox
I mean, how hard could it be?

not being funny but who the hell cares, this is one of the traditions that could be scrapped and no one would give a monkeys only the pimms drinking hooray henrys/henrietta show much does the bbc pay for this minority interest sport, time to let them get on with it and stop making it out to anything other than a jolly boys outing for the chinless wonders who run the universities.

I wouldn't mind betting there's quite a few that feel the same of The Masters... Let alone footie etc etc...

One of those events I wouldn't miss. Not passionate about any particular sports but there are events I wouldn't miss:

Boat Race
Derby
Grand National
Tour de France
FA cup
Wimbledon mens final (can't stand the grunting women)
Superbowl
The Masters
The Open
Ryder cup

I'm sure I've missed a few.:)

With the Olympics round the corner, a proper example should (hopefully will) be made of this bozo. A reporting gag and a 5 year stretch, not a £200 fine and a few hours community service. And, if as reported he's an Australian, transportation to his motherland.

this could be the reason you lack in the passion factor for sporting events... your top 4 are painfully boring.

your a betting man i assume?

I can't really believe that the boat race is on telly. does anyone really care. It's just a load of posh blokes in a boat

Not even that now. Mostly overseas postgraduates.

I too am amazed that this still gets the covergae it does. It's only a race til the first bend then who ever is leading at that point inevitably wins.

Only 1500 metres swimming is more boring.
