Running Firefox but don't ask me anything more complex than that..
Vids were working last time I looked...........

Alternatively, check that your Flash Player is working ok (just google Adobe Flash Player and re-download and install to be on the safe side).

Along the same lines, I have to install flash player every time I start up the lappy, to be able to watch you tube vids. can one of you computer buffs tell me what I should be doing to avoid this (now part of my start up) ritual?

Sounds a bit odd.. Flash is a simple install so should not be doing all this nonsense. What browser r u using? Upgrade the browser if necessary. Are you able to see any other flash sites...e.g. try going to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer.html and see if you can see the video/graphics on the top..

Worst case may be a browser reinstall? Did you do anything funny with your laptop recently?
