I have to say I've been keenly following the projectscratch blog and really enjoyed it to date. Its inspired me to do my own. Before you all groan (I can hear the collective sighs already) its also serving a self indulgent purpose to try an improve my writing (shorter and snappier - hoorah went the crowd) for some potential freelancing I may be doing.

Basically this is going to be the year of the Homer. I'm fed up of clapping as someone picks up a trophy I know I could have one. There's a new and more competitive Homer in town (but still wanting to enjoy the game and especially the company) who is out to clean up as much silverware as possible and is on a quest for a single figure handicap.

There's a new swing taking shape, I'm about to go into the murky world of sports psychology and they'll be the usual "big money" Saturday sweeps and club competitions to discuss.

I'll also be shedding light on those "I don't believe it" moments that happen in a club (taking 13 on the par 3 first in a medal round - trying to see if your trolley will float - shooting net 58 in round one and net 80 in the afternoon)

I hope it'll be a bit of light hearted reading for you. If you want to take a look then the link is at the bottom of this post and as on here I'd appreciate any feedback. If you hate blogs sorry to have wasted your time with this post.

Good luck with the blog Homer. I've certainly found writing one is helping me to think through my approach to the game and reflect on my performance. Only time will tell if it's having a positive affect on my scores. T

Looks good Homer - between you and ProjectScratch I'll have my golf reading covered...

Not sure what your sport psychologist would say about your choice of title for the blog though?!?

I agree - something more aspirational might help win those trophies - good luck with the blog and the game!

Good luck HJS, with the dedication and passion you have, single figures from 11.3 should be within your grasp soon.

nice to see ur wantin to get ur h`cap down ...surely u don`t need to start a major programme to achive ur first goal -2 shots off and down to 9 !with all the advice and tips on here and the lessons that u`ve had surely ur pro can work out where ur going wrong !!it`s not rocket science to work out what part of ur game needs worked on without startin blogs etc ..

Thanks guys for the comments and feedback and I hope you'll tell all your mates at yoru club about it and in particular the projectscratch site which has already caused a big debate amongst some of the Saturday morning regulars.

In answer to golfcitydweller's point, I do know where I need to do the work (mainly off the tee and around the green - Smiffy might class it as the whole way from tee to green - and who knows he may have a point) but there is still a lot to do to get cut especially when the game is in a bit of a doldrum like mine and the weather has hampered playing and practicing. The reason for the blog as I explained is partly to chart my progress and hopefully give everyone something slightly different to peruse from time to time, but also to be a little self indulgent and hone my writing skills to something shorter and snappier for some possible freelancing I may have coming my way.

I have just added a new feature which won't please the sports psychologist (more of him to come from April onwards) and I've now got a lost ball count for 2010. I'm thinking about maybe running a sweepstake on this and offering a prize to the person who gets closest (maybe shut entries at the end of March and you can then watch the counter rise!!)
