Was out sailing yesterday and have had a bit of a disaster getting a huge open blister on my right hand index finger half way up.

Unfortunately i have a singles tie tomorrow night and was just wanting to check if anyone has any advice on how best to deal with this? :D

best burst it m8, as any rubbing of club will do that anyway, try and keep it clean(clingfilm works) as you dont want infection in it.
hopefully by tomorrow, it will have dried out a bit for you, and you can put a plaster on it.
good luck tomorrow!

Thanks. It is already burst so is now just red raw. Am i allowed to tape it up?

Yes. I often play with a couple of fingers taped up as I regularly get blisters from playing golf. My hands must be too soft from all the washing up I do :D

You can get blister plasters from the supermarket or chemist, I think scholl or compeed make some. I've never tried them on my fingers but have used them loads of times for football on some pretty bad blisters and didn't feel a thing.

I used to get loads when I rowed competitively. The best way to deal with them is to use a needle and thread. Put the threaded needle through one side of the blister and out the other. The thread will draw all the gunk out cleanly and the blister will heal much quicker.

If you are tough enough, then surgical spirit will hurt like mad but toughen the skin quickly. Be warned, it can really sting though!

Fortunately it is already burst so don't need to do the needle and thread trick thankfully! Think it will just be a case of taping it up.

It doesn't hurt at all; just a bit of a weird feeling. A dab of surgical spirit will also help.

Compeed. Dry the blister put on a compeed plaster (Don't cut the plaster) at least an hour before play. Whatever is in the plaster sort of fills the raw part of the blister and you won't feel a thing. I go through this with pretty much every new pair of shoes I get. Hope this helps.
