Black Friday

Overload of emails and so called bargains that I just couldn't be bothered to even try and buy...all hype for me!

Good way for stores to get rid of their old tat for 'reduced prices' so they can make way for Xmas stock at inflated prices and market it as brand new.

Got a number of genuine bargains, some golf, some not. I nearly got carried away with just buying for the sake of it but stopped myself. I'm happy that the items I bought were genuinely sale items and were cheaper than standard sales.

Don't know it was Black Friday driven but I got an Amazon fire stick for £25. Love it.

I was close to getting to getting an m1 but even at £300 it's still a bit rich for me

Most of it is a load of nonsense. Overloaded with emails for Black Friday deals for anything from recruitment to drone training.
Got to the stage now where if it has Black Friday in the title I just bin it. If they can sell for that price now they can sell it for that price any day of the year. Why is it cheaper here on this particular day because it's the day after a holiday in another country? Carphone Warehouse Black Friday lasts for more than two weeks. Nonsense. I thought we had stopped falling for that the one day a year Allied Carpets didn't have a sale on.
Has anyone on here ever bought a sofa from DFS when it wasn't in the sale? 😀

They can and they do and it's not necessarily cheaper on Black Friday. Which? tracked the prices of 35 of the most popular products and found that 60% of them had been sold at the same price or cheaper at other times of the year.

"A Neff Slide and Hide Oven on offer for £494.99 at Currys/PC World last Black Friday was sold for £45 less just three weeks later, and was cheaper than the Black Friday price for at least 113 other days of the year."

"A Samsung 55-inch Smart 4K Ultra HD curved TV advertised by Currys as “Save £400, now £849” was £50 cheaper at least 29 times in December, January and April and £79 cheaper at least 18 times in May"

Like any advertised 'bargains' it pays to do a bit of research. American Golf were advertising Adidas 360 golf shoes £20 more expensive than some of their competitors. They had some genuine deals but they were the 'hook' to get you through the door.

I was sceptical about it too. I was looking at a fridge freezer from AO.com and as I wasn't in a hurry I thought I'd wait till Friday. Sure enough £40 off, plus they'll take away my old fridge and freezer so a saving of another £30. Plus using Quidco another £25 off so £95 cheaper than on Thursday. On Saturday it was back up to full price again so worth waiting for.

whilst in the most black friday is just an advertising con sometimes you do grab a bargain on things you need

id just run out of aftershave .. £35 for a 50ml bottle normally.. £55 for a 200ml bottle in the black friday deal.. that will last me over a year this time

I bought something that I wanted to buy anyway for GBP30 off. I nearly ordered a week ago, but then I though I might as well see what happens.

Only impulse purchase were 2 dozen Nike balls for GBP20 when walking past American Golf.
