Went to play a few holes last night and as i had the dogs in the boot (to take for a walk on the beach) i had my bag on the back seat.

Reached in to take it out and heard a snap and a shooting pain though my hand. Cant make a fist pick anything up with my right hand at the moment. got a doc appointment later, but one of the guys i was due to play with is a GP and though i had snapped the tendon for my middle finger.

so could be out for a few weeks, from picking up my bag!!!!

Anyone else have any golfing injuries that are slightly embarrassing?

Felt a twinge in my arm when I reached onto the back seat of the car to get my diary - resulted in 18 months of tennis elbow...
Got it on the other side now - not sure how.
Saw a PP break an ankle on the 2nd hole of the Club Champs at my last club...tee shot hit the Ladies Tee stone and came back at him like a rocket. Smashed his ankle and went OB.....

No bizarre, but my Dad broke his ankle slipped walking down a grass bank on a Tee box and a few years back a lad lost an eye, we were off the mats and he hit is drive down onto the wooden frame around the mat at the front, ball rebounded up into his eye.

Picked up a 'Rory' in my ankle last year, after slotting my tee shot into the water on a par 3, I went back to the buggy for another ball and stepped off a kerbstone twisting it good style

The rest of the group insist that if I had stayed and watched their tee-shots instead of trooping off for another ball it wouldn't have happened :o

A few weeks ago, I was playing golf and was hitting my 7 wood off the tee, got a bit steep and took about a inch deep divot:o, the club stopped immediately and thought I had broken my club but luckily enough didn't, finished the round etc.

I did not think anything of it, then played tennis in the evening. Woke up in the middle of the night and my middle finger had swollen up around the bone/knuckle and was throbbing, think it maybe broken as the knuckle is now much bigger than it was and hurts on the bone it I compress it. It had almost recovered and then the plonker I am I was moving logs from about 8, 40 foot popular trees cut down over the weekend and caught my flipping finger again whilst chucking the logs on the pile and now back to how it was about 4 weeks ago Grrr, think it may have to be doctors after wolburn to sort it properly, well huffed off.

Anyway I am continuing playing golf, but just holding the club with my left hand and three fingers on the right hand and my middle finger sticking out straight.

A few months ago i put my golf shoes in the footwell behind my driver seat. pulled up at the club twisted around to get my shoes and pulled a muscle in my kneck. Over a week before i played again

Not me but I did see a few years ago a hefty bloke hit a cracking drive and follow through and fall to the floor like he had been shot, turned out he had broke his toe and off he limped back to the clubhouse to drive home.

Didn't LiverpoolPhill have one playing at Blackmoor with Chrisd?

Pulled my bag out my upper locker last year. Heard a noise so turned round and an old putter which I'd stored in there came flying out and clocked me on the eye resulting in a split eyebrow!

To this day I still don't know why I stored it club head up!!

I seem to remember that someone "shot" themselves whilst playing..
They played a shot, hit a discarded bullet just under the ground and set it off - must have been America...😗

You're forgetting your concussion from trying that crazy shot from the hazard on 17.
Then again, was it just your ego which got damaged ;)

That re the tennis elbow was me, right elbow and it eventually went after much exercise, week after the left one started. Apparantly it can happen like that but never both elbows at the same time. 😳
anyway after I had my ankle ligament reattached everything was fantastic, I then played at seahouses. Stood on a green waiting to putt and a guy who was playing a shot onto an adjacent green pulled his shot, the ball rolled down the banking and was rolling at pace into the pond I stepped forward to stop his ball going in and bang I went over on me ankle. The tears stopped about 5 seconds before he walks onto our green. Asks if we had seen his ball. PP says " yeah injured guy on floor stopped it going 20 ft into pond". It was now only 6" in pond which he fished out.
no thanks nor nowt, no how are you. I thought at that point in future sod it there goin in.

when I was about 17 we used to play a scrubby nine hole course in Woodhouse, still there. Anyway a PP put his ball in trees on right side about 15 yd from tee. He's says I can see it am fetching it. Next guy tees it up and smashes it. Joe has just picked up his ball turned around and PP drive hit him about an inch above his nose. The sound was sickening. He hit the deck dazed. After a minute he's come around and being the jock he was, " he says where's me ball". Laugh. But an inch lower left or right he's blinded. He played another two holes and said he would meet us in the bar. We finished twenty mins after him, got to the bar and his face was an absolute mess with the swelling and bruising.

Did something very similar to this last year.... Went to open the door of my car to get the clubs out but didn't quite reach far enough to fully grab the door handle, this resulted in my pulling the door open with just my middle finger then SNAP! Same thing torn tendon.

Felt like a right wally!

how long did it take to recover?

No injuries from playing golf yet...but couple of years ago, I tried to hit a punch shot to keep the ball under some trees. Flushed it, but the ball also hit then150 yard marker 10/15 yards in front of me. It hit it square on and pinned me about 3/4 inches below my throat. Got a feeling that could have ended a lot worse!

When it happened did the end of the finger " droop", something similar is called mallet finger. Seen it a few times during ones mining career. The last time a guy pulled on his rigger boots with his middle finger through the loop at the back of boots and then " snap".
Some repair and some don't, depends on how severed the tendon is. if it does not repair you can end up with a finger shaped like a " mini G spot vibrator " for the rest of your life.
