I played the Oxfordshire today, they've got a good deal on right now - £40 for full english breakfast and 18 holes. And good god it was brutal! I haven't played in wind like that since Hillside!

Par 3, 125 yards - 6 iron just about did it.
Par 3, other direction, 155 yards - hit 8 iron and that was at least a club too much, was very lucky it was a mis-hit.

And yes, I know, before anyone lucky enough to be a member at a links course says anything, that sounds fairly standard, etc, etc ... :D

Very good course, I have to say, I enjoyed it a lot despite the breeze. Fairways are a bit soft in places but holding up pretty well, trolley routes and some areas of the rough were definitely boggy. They need to put a trolley ban in pretty quickly. Greens were excellent though, looked great, ran true, and loads faster than you would expect an inland course to be at this time of year. I'd definitely like to go back there and experience the course with perhaps just a 1-club wind.

We are playing it on Saturday - it's a good winter course with the deals they have

Wind was fun today - lots of punch shots in order

Always seems blowy at the Oxfordshire as it's rather exposed so I can see how the winds today would play havoc with club selection. Mind you for that price it's still great value for money. Glad the greens putted well. I played it a week after they had hollow tined them which took the gloss of it.

It was blowy but I managed 11 pars with 30 putts playing with MashleyR7 and his dad today, the course was quite damp too

Played Sherringham yesterday, was very windy but my word that is one amazing course. The 5th tee their feature hole is such an amazing view. Played right into the face of the wind today was very please to par it too....:D

If anyone gets the chance I would say it is well worth a visit.

I wouldn't, apart from the 5th it is only a 'decent' course.

Sorry :(

I might just do that one day Glyn ;) In the last 3 weeks I've played West Sussex, Royal Cinque Ports and Royal Ashdown Forest, I was very impressed with all three of them  And the Hotchin is not bad either :ears: :D

I think that's a little harsh.

However your 'good' course must be something special

I just think if you take away the sea views and the lovely 5th, you are left with a 'decent' course rather than a 'great' course. Sorry, I think I'm turning into a bit of a course snob as I get older

your turning into a bit of a course snob!!! That's an understatement ha ha.

Supposed to be playing today but with the wind blowing the way it is, and the venue (Lewes, atop the South Downs) I'm not looking forward to it.
Might try to get in touch with my pp and call it off.
