Birdie, Bogie.... OR ..... Par, Par

The saying goes that it can only go down hill after starting with a birdie, give me 2 pars any day.

And I mean 2 pars in my full round and I am happy.

Par par or bogey birdie but not birdie bogey.

Clever. I agree.

I've had a round where I made 8 birdies and 7 bogies, it seemed to last forever and was a series of highs followed by "remind me why i play this game" lows. I've had more enjoyable rounds where I've had 2 birdies and one bogie and posted the same score. Can't remember ever breaking par without at least one bogie on the card... in fact I'm not sure I've ever gone bogie free (even when I shot 4 under I had 3 bogies!)

But recently a round with 5 consecutive Doubles and a 10!

I've had 18 2-pointers twice - at different Clubs!. Got cut on both of them too.

LOL... yeh, that was a quality back 9!!! When you've just made your 5th consecutive double-bogie and THEN arrive at the SI1 hole there's no option other than smash your drive as hard as you can...and keep reloading until you hit the fairway :p Was a good front 9 though :p

what is wrong with scrambling a par? real confidence builder for the round to miss the first few greens and still walk away with pars. love it

Just a personal preference really, if i'm not having to scramble pars then I should be getting better chances for a birdie.

Scrambling is a good confidence booster along with a chip in, given a choice I would prefer not to have to scramble.

Maybe my recent form is a factor here, I have been more likely to scramble a par / bogey / double, my long putting has really gone off the boil and I would like it to come back.

 Im with this .. taking for granted id sign for the same score then par golf would be what id take , as its about consistency

Bogey birdie shows good mind set , bouncebackability :)

there is something very frustrating about gaining a shot & giving it back straight away tho

Par-Par for me. I get at least 1 birdie on most rounds I play these days but more Pars instead of bogies is what I need to get my H/C down.

I remember starting a round once, par, par, birdie, par, par. One under gross standing on the 6th tee.
Then the bloke I was playing with started a bit of gamesmanship and the wheels came off.
Can't remember where it was now, or who with

The 6th hole on most crazy golf courses can be a killer. Did it have a windmill ?;)

You just melted like a pair of chocolate underpants.

I was alongside your 40 pointer at Gainsborough... glad to see you've manned up a little :p

Birdie, bogey for me....I've not had a birdie yet this year(!) and am desperate for one, plus I'm trying to play every hole to bogey, so bogey to me is essentially par anyway, so I don't mind scoring them at all.

I think Poulter tweeted after the US Open how it was much more interesting having a round of level par with 6 birdies, 6 pars and 6 bogeys than to have one with 18 pars, and I agree, would be much more interesting :-)
