strange one but here goes (not a boast by the way)
last nite playing doubles we are on the the 11 hole (for me its the hardest) so I sky by drive but it kicks off a bunker slope and goes forward in the first ruff cut. leaves me 200 to the middle and 215 back. I get a stroke here so I will play safe and take a 6 iron (170 from fairway 180 from rough) and lay up. my thinking was 3 iron I cud spray it left or right. felt safe 6 to front. hit the 6 iron sweeeeeeeeeet straight at the flag. it carries 200 and holds the green at the back.
it was a monster I was in shock I lag my putt up and I win the hole, woop woop (we won the tie at the 17th)
now I ve been messing around with my shafts and this has px 5.5 in it. while mthe rest have kbs tours.
but seriously 200 carry and I hadn't had spinach for years.

No offence Davie but its called a flier!

Happens from time to time when the grass gets between blade and ball.

Agreed, it takes a lot of spin off the ball hence why they travel so much further than a shot struck from the fairway with no grass between the ball and clubface.

yes I know what a flier is, in my post I mentioned my distances with my 6 iron 170 from the fairway 180 from the rough. I can factor in 10 yards gain from the rough normally but three clubs is mental. cos I was trying to lay up. brilliant nite for golf last nite

Yip it was beautiful on the coast. I played yesterday afternoon tee'd off at 1530, off at 1820. Had a bite to eat out front looking over Arran and down the Clyde towards the Cumbrae's. Beautiful.

wish it was like that all year round, calm just a wee slight breeze to keep you cool.perfect

Something similar happened to me. Normally hit a PW 130 or so.

Absolutely pured it once and it flew like an 8 iron. Ended up going about 160 yards!
