Mine is usually as good as gold, she really is tolerant of me and my jolly's.

However tonight, she wants to watch desperate housewifes or something, at this point diplomacy fails and I said, I pay the sky subscription so tough!

Try arranging compromises, works for me

I get Saturdays to play Golf, Sundays are for her to decide what we do so I spend most Sundays trawling IKEA etc.

I wanted to join a club the other month but after "discussion" we agreed I'd join in April,OK I don't get membership through Winter but if it's a wet winter I can't play anyway.

Oh and never tell them the price of anything and baffle them with the science of what your shiny new toy does!

HID tends to drift into a coma if I do that then I can sneak away quietly

Eek! No useful advice I'm afraid other than to rub it in that my missus is great about me and my golf. Though in fairness we have no kids so it's massively different I guess!

I'd imagine their could be a few men banished to the sofa tonight. Been a full 72 hours or playing and watching golf for a lot of people!

Good luck!

Good work guys. I do the whole compromise thing, but that costs me far more than my golf does! She plays on my dedication, had to buy a bloody 6ft x 3ft mirror the other day and had to put it up this morning. does look pretty cool though! Just brought my 18 month old son his first golf clubs he looks quality!

Flandango must be young. I'm middle-aged and HID encourages me to go and play. I wonder if she's got a young scratch player giving her lessons while I'm suffering on the course.

starting the nipper early I see- good plan. As soon as he plays with you it becomes father son bonding and gives HID nothing to complain about. you can just say you were doing it for the kid. ;)

it's to late, your doomed. You have to train them from the off. Bite her ok the ear. It's an outside shot but it may work.

Not a nightmare at all tim!

I get no hassle about playing golf any saturday I want we spend a few hours shopping on a Sunday, it's not like she makes me watch Sex & The City or any of that tosh all day Sunday.

She watches the Majors and The Ryder Cup, all the footie and doesn't watch a single soap.

She even watched XFactor this morning so it wouldn't disturb the golf last night!

i'm not brave enough to suggest she sits in the kitchen...
sky is piped upstairs in this house to the 'office' which is basically my den....but i have terrible competition from hid and three late teenagers to see what i want...it's sometimes easier just to let 'em get on with it (and nip down the range!)

Compromise is best, do something good just for her the day before your game or get her interested in something where you look after the kids that day.We share everything from home educating our kids to all domestics and cooking etc, my wife has her hobby and whenever I want to play golf I NEVER get a remark of any kind.

Those whos wives dont seem to care are probably having an affair/plotting the finantial benefits when your gone or how much they can make by divorce citing your golf habbit as a cause, women can wait patiently for revenge lads lol. :D :D

I couldn't ask for a better wife. Has let me sit on my fat arse all day watching the footie and the golf without a word and kept me in tea throughout. She rarely moans about me watching any sport and even though we have Sky upstairs she is normally the one who goes up to watch it.

She never moans about my golf spending, playing at weekends or going out and practicing during the week. In fact if I'm not going out to hit balls or play she is worrying that I'm poorly!

I think I cracked this when I first started. When I got back from my final trip to Malaysia the plan was to do the DASS course and get a bike. However, I got taken out for an afternoons golf, got totally hooked, came back and bought clubs instead.

This pleased ex and daughter (as I came off old bike several times - b**** somerset farmers!) and partner (as her son has been in hospital with various broken bits a few times).

Therefore if I want to play golf . . .
