Best time to buy new irons

Just wanted to check what the consensus was in terms of the best time to buy new clubs to try and get a good price?

I dont mind buying irons from a previous year, but the issue is mine have to be adjusted for length and lie and the websites that do deals on the older sets dont allow adjustmment on the older models.

Also, am I correct in recalling that the manufacturers release their new irons around Feb/March time? If not, when do they release? Any advice on this would be appreciated

Quite a few release new gear in the early autumn. Gives a chance to get fitted and buy your dream set ready for the start of the next season.

When you physically need to! My pro wouldn't adjust my irons so I bought a spec I needed secondhand and been loving them ever since I seem to be back to the old days!

Whenever you feel the urge. Of course if you wait for a new release, then "in theory" the previous models should come down although that isn't always the case for a few months at many places online

What adjustments did you want? Why wouldn't pro do it?

Buy a set whenever you get a good deal , it doesn't matter if it's a voucher discount or a store discount, just buy them preferably with a longer shaft already fitted then take them to a pro to get the lie etc sorted.

It shouldn't cost more than £25 for a club fitter to alter the lie on a set of clubs.

Generally speaking if a store offers options to change the standard length of the club then it also allows you to change lie, but it all seems to be done by the manufacturer and the stores themselves only offer good discounts on sets they have bought in and arent prepared to change. Snainton are a good example of this

Interesting is that when comparing the clubs that interest me, the Titleist AP1 almost needs no adjustment for me...so most normal height people play it without adjusting it.
