Best Season Ever?

Brilliant finish to a game at Etihad stadium. Even better that Mancini never entertained the purple nosed ones' attempt at mind games. Classic!!

Are you for real?

He did it constantly. Claiming they couldn't win the league, saying Tevez would never play again, saying Balotelli would never play again...

It is possible to be the best watched and also the best in the world. Can't wait for Reading to be part of the best league again, and I managed to make my decision without the aid of Sky.

If sky says it was then we all have to agree and say it was.

Sky invented football you know

As I said,best watched.

Next.

Portugal - generally dominated by 3 clubs for over 40 years - Porto,Benfica and Sporting. Good technically, but biggest cheaters/divers in Europe.

Spain - Apart from Valencia, dominated by the same two for years, technically the best, good atmospheres but not the same physical "allowance" by refs, would English refs give messi, xavi etc less protection, you bet they would. Fantastic football, but Barca/Madrid are rarely beaten, so not as exciting unless you watch further down the league, but a lot less at stake there.

Italy - Too cagey on the whole, more turnaround in league winners over 30 years than the UK, but how many classic games can you remember? AC Milan once won the league and scored less goals than the amount of matches played. Something like 32 goals in 36 games - nuff said.

Germany - Similar to Italy, domination wise, but not enough of the top class players play there.

England - It has, excitement, fullish stadiums, some of the world's best players, played 100 MPH (as all foreign players say when they first come), games are allowed to flow (although a lot less than years ago, and cheating is unfortunately now the norm), the little teams beat the big teams pretty regularly, never say die attitude, nowadays at least a little bit of turnover of the top four, but has been overly dominated in the past by a select few. The foreigners, always say they are the best atmospheres at English grounds (and its crap now compared to years ago).

Not perfect by any stretch, but I think most Africans, Asians, Europeans, North Americans would only gather in pubs to watch teams from England play, than most of the others. South Americans would probably watch the Spanish more. Sky might send the pictures, Dodge, but probably have their own commentators.

I dont buy into all the Sky guff, but it is the most watched, because it is the most exciting, not necessarily the best.

If you could only watch 2 countries football, the EPL would be one of them (not including the SPL). You would, I tell yer!!!

So its not about the quality of the football but more about the kick and rush?

As for tackling and letting the game flow its disappearing very quickly nowadays.

Every Spanish side in la liga are technically better than our teams.

I thought the German league was anything but dominated by clubs a la England?

Sure they have had about half a dozen winners in last dozen years?

Great league played to mostly packed stadia, just because they don't have the cream of the stars (due to other countries paying over the odds) and it's not kick and rush or Sky told me.doesn't mean it isn't possibly the best league in the world.

German average attendance over 45k - England 33k...............

Plus they can take penalties....:whoo:

You've mistaken me - I was saying the German league was similar to Italy (domination-wise), as in there has been a lot of different winners/top 4.

In Germany they have lots of bigger stadiums due to having had the world cup recently, and lots being in places with good transport links. I think Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool would be playing in front of at least 10,000-20,000more most weeks, if they had stadiums big enough.

The German league is a great model, good stadiums, a lot of clubs are fan owned, and not the money-mad situation as in the Prem.

Perfect football isn't necessarily exciting football. I'm not a fan of Stoke's style at one extreme, or Arsenal (when playing 20 passes for the sake of it) but that is what makes the Prem unusual as there are different playing styles. Arsenal played some great stuff, as do Barca, but at times,it is more designed to starve the opposition of the ball. At least there is still some tackling in Britain, whereas abroad it is a race to hit the ground first to gain a foul. The last 2 world cups have been crap, due to being a non-contact sport.

I hate sky, and the sky based nu-footy fan. However, I would prefer our type of football (British style) than the Sepp Blatter orientated non-contact Basketball type of football mainly played abroad.

Penalties - as long as Bayern beat Chelsea with them, I'm ok with that. Scouse not English. :)

I know a few guys who go across to Germany for club games and an excuse for a bevvy and they rave about how it is very much still a sport that is accessible to the common man and they always rave about the atmosphere in the grounds,as you say they have some cracking stadia and it's isn't all about cash cash cash, something that I still thing will come to haunt clubs in England at some point.

The final days battle was a great spectacle, I thoroughly enjoyed the drama of the City game. It was great to see the joy of the City fans; they have waited so long to come out of the shadow of UTD.

Yet was it a great day for English football? Sadly not! I know it was Chelsea who started the rot, but it’s a crying shame that the premier league title now has to be bought rather than won. The highest bidder takes it
