Just had the best round of the year and thought I'd gloat about it.

Shot a pretty sexual (for me) 74 gross (css 69) which should bring my handicap down to 10. My target was single figures by Christmas so its going to be a close call.

Whats your best round of the year? And do you lot set yourself yearly targets?

Well done Richard!

At the other end of the spectrum, I shot my all time best score in todays medal, a 98!!!
Took up Golf in May and I'm so pleased :)

74 off of 12.9 h/cap? Do you speak Mexican? :p

Congrats on a very fine round, it might also be your best round for 2010 and 2011 :D

Believe it or not, I'm no bandit!

Something just clicked yesterday with my swing during a team comp and it's carried on working.

My lowest score before today was a 78 I shot about 5-6 months ago!

Outstanding....

5 over CSS, off your h'cap is really impressive.

I'm guessing it wasn't exactly easy golf weather either. :)

Nice....

Here's the scorecard from earlier. Driving accuracy was slightly off to say the least!

Shot my first ever scratch round at the end of September (71) in a medal. I was off 11 and it got me down to 8.5. CSS was 72 so shot 12 under H/C!! Round consisted of 5 birdies & 5 bogies.
Keep threatening to reproduce it and get down even further, but keep blowing up on the back nine, (this week was 2 over after 12 and ended up 10 over!!....previous week was 1 over after 9 and ended up 11 over. Previous weeks I've played the back nine in par or one over after a poor front nine.) Hopefully it's just a matter of time before I manage to put the 2 together.

I set a goal of 8 this year (started on 13 in May, up to 14 and then down to 9). I should definitely get there.
Next year I set a goal of 5.
I think it's important to re-assess your goals regularly to ensure they're realistic and be prepared to adjust them up or down as appropriate.

My best round this year was the two lagers and a heavy tops I got last Tuesday night watching the Man Utd game.
Not much to shout about for me this year. :(

Well done everyone on theirs.

Shooting a scratch round is sill a dream for me at the moment. I rarely get more than 1 or 2 birdies per round.

As far a reviewing my goals, I don't necessarily agree - its abit like moving the goalposts to suit. If you set yourself a realistic goal in the first place there should be no need to adjust it. If you don't hit your target on time it's tough titties in my opinion.

I have one major goal for the year, then a multitude of smaller targets to help me hit the main one.

There's no point in having targets if you make them easy to hit.

My best of the year was a 74 on a par 71 but CSS 69. Still a healthy cut and a fine round - but that was early Spring - not much to shout about since then. Broken 80 a few times but not been able to go really low - roll on next year.

My best this year was back in January. Level to handicap front 9, then shot 8 straight pars and finished with a birdie for 1 under gross back 9. Every shot went exactly where I wanted, felt surreal. When do I get that feeling back please?

My best round this year was a 74 gross,66 nett,Par 70 with the CSS 70. Thats really it for me this year only improving by 1 shot but hit the ball amazing all year so hopefully sign of things to come.

My best round ever, and this year was 79, shot it off 17 and 12 on two occasions, par 72. This weekend I could have came close if I did the full 18! I had 4over yesterday and 1 over today for the front 9 and the back 9 tends to be way easier at my course! :p

I can remember when my ambition in life was to actually make a pitch mark that I had to repair

now this year I have broken 100 on a regular basis

Imurg reckons im a 23

My aim is to join a club and hit 15 within 18 months
I look at my game and see exactly where i can save a shot here and a shot there. if i can stop the odd 8 or 9 and make that into a 6, i'll be happy

There is something you cannot describe when you see that 120 yard 9 iron fall a couple of feet from the hole and trickle past

that is what we all aspire to and what keeps us plugging awat, week after week and month after month

Had my best round of the 2009 today too

Last "BIG Society" event of 2009, went round in 92 and got 40 points playing off 20 (generous slope rating)

Still only good enough for 3rd place, as "bandits" took 1st and 2nd with 46 and 41 respectively!!

New handicap now 18.4, which is the first time i've ever been an "18-something"

Happy days!
