Just thought I would tell you all about a prize I won this year, well you can hardly say won.
I was part of a 4 man team at a charity day at our course, along as a guest of a client. There were prizes at almost every hole, but not all straightforward. The 1st and 12th holes had prizes for the "shortest" drives.
We were doing ok as a team, not scoring well but enjoying a good day out.
There was a beer tent next to 12th tee, with the following group drinking and waiting to play.
A marker indicated the shortest drive approx 100 yards off the tee just into the rough.
Thought I would easily beat that, oh how wrong I was !!!!!
I stood up after our stop at the beer tent to tee off and only managed to sclaff the ball with the toe of the club sending it skywards. It rapidly met the adjacent trees and rebounded on to the tee 6 feet in front of us. Certainly didn't get any sympathy, my team mates were rolling about on the tee laughing and the beer tent erupted as well. I then had the humiliation of walking down the fairway to collect the marker and position it where my ball lay.
I managed not to stay for the prizegiving, but was told many, many times the following day that I had won.
The competition was at the end of September but I only got my prize on Friday last week. One of the organisers turned up at my office to hand it over. Only if I explained to everyone present how I managed to win it.
The prize consisted of a bottle of Whyte and Mackay whisky, a Mcgregor golf towel for my bag and Footjoy glove.
Actually enjoyed the day despite this and think that and £3.30 from a sweep was all I won this year.

Can anyone beat that
