So next season I would like to play in some good amateur competitions next year and want too now what's out there.

I know some have decent prizes at the end and some are more just for the experience but can anyone point me to some of them.

The ones I'm aware of are the trilby tour and the Nike matchplay tournament so anything like them would be ideal

There are plenty of Opens in Scotland, i would say pretty much every club has one, most of the top ones included.

Check out Golf Empire free i think , I use The wee yellow golf book £4.50 both online. The new issues will be published the beginning of the year.

It's got to be the Trilby tour. One qualifier in Scotland and the rest in England but the chance to become a 'World Champion'

How can any man possibly resist.............;)

Popcorn time!

As it is neither of these are mid - handicap events, and of course both are NQ events for handicap purposes. You will find people entering these events with the expectation of winning!

If you want good competition then the best route is Open events that are played as handicap qualifiers - it's that simple.

There are also some mid am 'tours' that offer excellent competition on good courses - should be one operating in your area.

Another big  for Golf Empire...

It's a brilliant way to play some really decent courses for a fraction of the price, meet some really nice people, and stand a realistic chance of bringing home the bacon.
The Trilby Tour???? Even Liverpoolphil wouldn't win that.
;)
