Car not golf !

Just been looking at my car insurance renewal and I realise I have been driving since 1977, 35 years in total, and have never had an accident or claim on my car insurance. Not a great return on my car insurance premiums but not a bad record.

Anyone out there come close, or even beat me ?

Hopefully I'm not tempting fate!
I passed my test first time on 22nd August 1973 and have only owned five cars (plus one classic) in that time. Never had an accident, parking ticket or points on my licence, despite averaging around 15,000 miles a year.

That's what I thought. The law of averages are not in my favour.:(

I have had plenty of parking tickets, and a couple of speeding fines. Have also owned 6 cars, so you are definitely ahead of me on all counts Clive.

Coming up 30 years in Feb with no points and no parking tickets either.
Only had 1 crunch in '91 when a car pulled out from a side road when I was 15 feet away doing 25mph - did well to only take the wing and headlight.
These days I'm doing 20k+, mostly as a passenger!

Was one of the only tests I think I passed first time!! License held for 15 years across 9 cars and whilst no crashes I have had to make one claim for vandalism (whole street randomly got done in the night) but that's it.....

Well it's not me then!
Passed my car test in 90, written off 2 cars, one artic with one of those and nearly myself in 91. Passed HGV 1 in 97 and had 4 accidents while driving long distance all of which hit me rather than me hitting them. One drove into the back of my wagon while sitting at traffic lights, I even had my hand on the phone as I watched the guy slidding towards the back of me, he survived just! One hit the middle of my trailer from a side road as his brakes failed, he wasn't so lucky. Another hit me while I was parked up, surprised the hell out of me when I got back to the wagon to find the police, an ambulance and a fire engine waiting for me. The last one REVERSED into me at a junction.
Passed my bike test in 2000 and, touch wood, no accidents on a bike. Several near misses but no contact yet.
I've had 5 points for driving without due care and attention, 15 points for speeding (mostly on the bike) and 3 points for an illegal tyre when I was driving local wagons as I had cut the inside of the tyre in a quarry and didn't realise.
I think I may be at the bottom of this pile for quiet a long time.

Driving for 9 years, had 2 cars, been rear ended once and got 3 points because I went down a bus lane that was only a bus lane because of the bloomin' tram works, wasn't properly signposted as a bus lane, and isn't a bus lane now.

Sodding tram works.

good work Rich:thup:

I've had a few scrapes, nothing major, just dented bumpers after some low speed bumps including one with a brick pillar just after I passed. :o

I've had about 3-4 speeding fines over a 15 year period, so no bans and my licence is currently clean

I did write off a car by driving through a ford that was quite deep. A load of water went up the exhaust into the engine and a piston blew out the top the next day, it was a company car fortunately, and I'd just handed my notice in:D

What colour is your truck? Then I know to steer clear :-)

Yes I can beat that Rich..................

I have been alive since September 1976 and only had a couple of accidents that have put me in Hospital so that is 36 and still going strong...............

In 1997 I wrote of my Ibiza Gti driving like an idiot between Crainlarich and Tarbert on Loch Lomond. Lost control and went into a wall, back across the road into the crash barrier and back across the road again back into the wall. Airbag splatted my nose.

In 2000 I went into the back of someone while changing a CD. I got the car back from the garage and had it less than 24 hours when someone went into the back of me on the A80 and wrote my car off.

I was also wiped out in Paisley in 2009 and put into 2 parked cars!

I've been the cause of two accidents and been involved in a good few either by myself or with mates or work.

I think Im going to lose this one terribly. Had 24 cars and 4 motorbikes in 11 years of driving. Have had the same car for 3 years now which is a long record for me. Probaly do 1,000 miles a year in the car and 45,000-50,000 in the work van. Got 3 points at 16 for going through a red light on my 50cc motorbike which I honestly did not do. then got banned for 4 months at 16 for TWOC where I was a passenger in a stolen car which I did not know about. Then had my only accident at 18 by wrapping my 220 turbo around a lampost. Had a clean license for 1 week when I was 19 before I got 3 points for a bald tyre(my fault). At 22 I had a clean license for another week before I got 3 points for speeding(38MPH in a 30) on the A140 between the A14 and Diss. Was then clean for a month before I got 3 points for driving whilst on a mobile phone. Fuming about that as I always use a hands free and would never drive and be on a phone at the same time. Some low life PC said he saw me whilst driving past him and it got sent straight to court as a summons as he couldnt be bothered to stop me. I wasnt going to win that one so pleaded guilty by post to save money. Then 3 weeks ago I got 3 points for doing 89 on the A12 at 1am in the morning(my fault). So currently on 6 points and drive like Miss Daisy everywhere so I cant get into trouble. Feel free to judge me:rolleyes:

Nowt wrong with that for an Essex boy. It only starts getting bad when you've had at least 2 stints in the nick for TWOC and lost you licence for a minimum of 2 years.

Started off on a motorbike - 6 accidents in the first year then no more in over 35yrs.
Got my first car in 1979, and 6mths later I managed to wipe out a good length off fencing after losing the back end on a bend - no more since then. Usuaully do between 30k and 40k a year.
