Ben Hogan shineys

I know someone with a set of these mounted in a display case.

Each time I see them I am sorely tempted to grab one and just hit a ball. Sorry Homer but I can't agree with you; these are clubs of great beauty. Truly golf porn!

Pretty enough but there was a link to another set that were quite a bit cheaper and I dare say useable without risking the collectible value. I definitely like Hogan blades though and have had a set of Apex irons since the early 1990s. They still get the dust knocked off them several times per year too, usually in the wet weather because I find them easier to play in swampy conditions. In fact I managed an 81 with them before all this white stuff appeared a couple of weeks ago. Several sets of grips have come and gone but they've actually held up condition-wise pretty well. I was actually complimented about "another new set of clubs" last time out as they do retain "shinyness".

I have to say, I've never understood people who buy clubs to look at - like people who buy cars to never drive & guitars to never play, just sit them somewhere nice and let them get dusted once in a while. It's a shame. Yeah, they might get damaged, but the enjoyment of playing should outweigh their value, surely?
