Beer glass

Do you ask to take the nice cutlery home from a restaurant? Of course you don't!

Of course you don't ask!! But if the cutlery accidentally slips from the table or plate and into your bag and you only realise the next day when you get home then there's not a lot you can do about it!!! ;) :D

who would you feel if you invited someone around for a meal or a Cappa and they took home the cup or plates..

Stealing plain and simple

Anyone who comes round mine for a meal or cuppa gets paper plates, plastic cutlery and cups!

There's a lot of thieving gits out there who cannot be trusted!!!

yep, it's theft :D

Used to live near a Geordie lass... about 4 foot 7 and in her 50s. Scary as hell! Her and husband once ran a café in Whitely Bay. She had lost of stories about "old folk" (whish I could spell that in dialect) who used to nick the cutlery. Full time job searching the shopping bags.

Why would you want to?

1 - It stealing, is it really worth the aggravation if you got caught?

2 - Does drinking San Miguel from a San Miguel glass make it taste any better than say from a glass bought from Ikea?

3 - Who's going to see them? And if you do put them on display they are nothing but dust collectors

The amount of money and time I spend in there, everyone knows me.

Shock horror I also sometimes park my car overnight, even if not visiting the pub.

So you're happy with stealing off people you know, but not who you don't?

Remind me again what people thought of the traveller stabbed by the old bloke?
It's the principal , not what or who you took.

It’s theft - simple , we had it at our place with the gin glasses , people think they are nice and just walk off with it - again it’s just a symptom of the modern want society where people would prefer to look to get something for nothing as opposed to having to pay what’s required.

Psychologically yes, and as golfers we all know about the psychology impact.

The shape of the glass also helps it to keep its fizz for longer. I think it was the Belgians who first worked that one out but the rounded shape of the glass keeps it lively whereas a straight sided glass would allow it to go flat too quickly. Of course, if the Ikea glass was also goblet shaped then we are back to the psychology angle again.

I used to share a flat with three other lads (in my mid-20s). I must admit we had countless pint glasses stolen from pubs in there - but every last one of them was simply the product of someone simply wandering off with it still in hand at closing time. Sometimes not even someone who lived with us, they just left the pub with us and stopped off at ours, pint still in hand. We never ran out of glasses that way!

None were intentionally stolen because they were nice glasses though. :D

But stolen nonetheless. You could have returned them..........

Do landlord's buy glasses or are they supplied by breweries foc?

It’s getting less and less now that wholesalers or direct brewers supply glasses, if they do, you get an allowance of branded glasses based on what your buying & spending with them, anything else or extra, you have to buy yourself.

I know this as I’m on the house committee at my club and we’ve got to buy new glasses which aren’t branded as we don’t spend enough to get any given to us and we’re constantly swapping some oc our ales about.

I have done it. Sometimes I've blagged one from the landlord, especially if its a fancy new glass and my local and in my youth come home with the odd one after a night out. Not something I'm particularly proud of, but in the grand scheme of things I wouldn't call it the crime of the century.
