Beer glass

Do you ask to take the nice cutlery home from a restaurant? Of course you don't!

There are some fabulous glasses nowadays, particularly the European beers / lagers. There are plenty I'd like but the chimp on the shoulder reminds me it is still stealing.

If they sold them I'd probably buy some, the Moretti and San Miguel ones are particularly nice.

Lager is beer.

And yes, beer glasses are amazing. I’m adding to my collection all the time. Probably got about 40 now and adding. Pint glasses from macro lagers are only good for soft drinks though.

Was in an antique shop in Notts the other day. San Miguel glasses goin for £2 each.Wonder where they were from. Yup I have a couple of nice Morretti glasses, both differant. One found in a car park in Bowness on Windermere. Now in me cupboard.

I've got a nice straight glass, fluted on the lower third, with a King George excise mark.
(What else but a vintage glass? ;))

Edit: Just looked up the number, 478, which designates it as from the St Helens area.

You can buy the San Miguel ones from San Miguel, or at least you used to be able to.
I have four of them, really nice glasses.
My local pub let me have one of the new Kronenburg glasses last week, they're quite nice as well.

So you buy a pint & it comes in a nice glass.
Is it acceptable to take the glass home as a souvenir?

Not without permission or offer to buy

I know lots would and I'm not going to judge (because we've all probably taken something in the past) but here's a fun scruples poser...

If you'd take the glass, would it make any difference if it was a city pub or the members bar in your clubhouse?

No, I wouldn’t take them. However I do have some nice glasses that I have found in my front garden in the shrubs “blown” by the wind....along with lots of other rubbish people can’t be bothered to put in a bin.

It's STEALING THAT'S WHY! ...says my wife. Have done it once though. After moving down south and stopping at a country pub for a cooling pint was astounded at the cost, but realised they were obviously selling the glass as well so kept it. :D

Next time you complain about the price of a pint, think about the overheads that have to be paid for. Like replacing stolen glasses.......

New nice glasses seem to disappear fast, i just said to our barmaid yesterday about the nice new glasses on the bar, she said a dozen had been delivered 2 weeks ago, only 5 left.
We have had 4 private functions in the last 10 days with lots of non members:cheers: , obviously our members would never dream of stealing glasses
