Having reached the semi final last year i was beaten in the second round yesterday. Lost on the 17th to a 16 Handicapper.
Strange game--golf was fairly good from both of us but no holes halved from the 2nd to the 15th. I lost the third to a par, won 4&5 with pars, lost 6&7 to pars, lost 8 to a bogey won 9 win a bogey, won 10 with a par, lost 11 to a par, won 12 win a par. 13th index 1 and 14th were the holes which changed the game, i made a horlicks of the 13th, pulled drive to adjacent fairway but played two poor shots in a row to lose the hole. 14th played great second to 15 feet opponent nailed his second to 3 feet, he birdied i didn't. I won 16 with a par to be 1 down with 2 to go but lost 17.
On reflection opponent was 4 shots inside his handicap, 1 was two better excluding my horlicks of the 13th.
C'est la vie.

Homer played today in a fourball comp and played well for 16 holes--one poor drive OOB and one poor iron tee shot into water.

Resaonably happy with my game just need to cut out the odd bad shot.

I hear you. I am sooooo close to posting that really low round and cleaning up in a big event. Just need to avoid the one OB or the silly double from nowhere. Still I'm looking at all the positives (number of putts, bal striking etc) and forgetting the two rubbish shots that ruined it.
