PriceWaterhouseCooper have said in their report there is no gender bias but have acknowledged there is a pay gap between the genders. And in terms of that gap it is well below the national average of 18%.

Surely PWC are guilty of the same blind institutional failings if they can't see that as a bias. If its so ingrained in their psyche that they just see it as a gap...

Sorry but I don't buy it.

No idea... but in the case of the two news readers mentioned on a non BBC Station this morning as being vastly different, the bloke had 20 years longer service. And , do you really think that PWC would open themselves up to the publicity of brushing over something like this in the current climate?

Its difficult to compare some of this for a number of reasons...such things as

a) length of service, b) performance appraisal ratings for each year of service c) promotions in service, d) contractual terms and conditions of each role while in service

So, unless two people have identical records and are paid differently , the comparison isn't as easy as folk like to think. But, if there are marked gaps between folk with very similar service and roles, it is smelly indeed.

The BBC strike me as being an odd organisation. On the face of it, they go out of their way to be hugely PC, but on the other hand, they have folk going after them for this and their possible role in covering such things as Saville etc isn't good at all . Weird.

NO way should the ladies pay be boosted to match.. the men’s should be slashed to be level

All overpaid anyways!

There are two sets of figures involved.

1) The average pay of ALL women vs the average pay of ALL men
2) The difference between a woman and a man doing comparable jobs

The former may be justifiable due to the preponderance of women in lower value jobs. The latter cannot be justified.

This seems to be frequently ignored. Top post.

The BBC claim they must pay high salaries to retain talent. The 'talent' are offerring to take a reduction...

Oh what a tangled web we weave when we set out to deceive!

If the BBC is found to be breaking the law with pay discrimination...

Does that mean we can stop paying the TV license... I watch very little, if any, BBC coverage

With the Beeb being totally full of clueless middle management I am not surprised, one little bit, they making a complete Horlicks of it all...

Yep, had my run ins with Beeb middle management glad I won't be having to deal with them anymore...

When you employ folk that only 'skill' is managing and remain clueless on what they are actually managing then there's only one direction of travel... Down the tubes...

I wish you were right; however the legal requirement for us to pay a licence fee protects their income and perpetuates the incompetence and its 'gravy train' largess.
