About time! he obviously had no idea what was going on and frighteningly admitted to not wanting to know to much!!!!!

Sundays sun has a good headline...

Bye
Bye
Chump

Shocking journalistic values, more have to go as Entwistle is/was the puppet on top but the cover up must run deep.

Didn't think he was the right man for the job in the first place...

Was completely out of his depth from day one...

Think the job itself has become a bit of a poison chalice... Don't feel there'll be any kind of a queue willing to take the job on...

I find it a wee bit sinister that former top Tory Chris Patten was at his side when he was resigning.
If people think a major cover up was in place over some "entertainers" involved in child abuse, then just wait and see what the politicians are capable of to protect some of their own or the integrity of their party.

Patten is the chairman of the BBC trust and the man that appointed Entwhistle... So no surprise he was at Entwhistle's side while he was resigning... The man that accused the Tory peer of 'wrongdoing' has a history of making false accusations...

Very arrogant man if his resignation speech is anything to judge him on.
Getting a years pay off though, something that all us licence payers will heartily endorse.

Exactly my thoughts.
I also found the terms of his contract quite interesting..........
If he resigned from the position,he'd recieve a pay off equal to 6 months salary
If he was dismissed,he'd get a pay off equal to one years salary !!!!!!!!

Wonder how I apply for the vacant position. Who cares if I'm useless at the job, after 2 months I can quit and get the equivalent to 25+ years pay at my current job

I see DaveCam has said its difficult to justify the payment to Entwistle.... I'd say it can't be justified in anyway whatsoever... But then again it is the public sector which most probably makes it OK...

A year's salary as a pay off for being a total disaster and failure is pretty handy! Bit like being a rubbish football manager!

I wonder if it was coincidental that they announced it just after 9pm - trying to ensure the Sunday papers missed the story...petty bit of revenge?!

I don't profess to know much about the guy unlike others on here but I will offer an analogy.

Your child is about to have brain surgery and heading the team is the top brain surgeon. One of his theatre nursing sisters on his team, however, happens to be a toss pot and is so proved to be.

He confesses to being unaware of this nursing sisters toss potting and is questioned as to why not.

Now our boy, who lives brain surgery, admits his lack of knowledge of each of his team - this is under intense pressure in a studio and not a surgery - he is a surgeon not a pundit.

He now does the honorable thing and decides, as he can not hack it in an interview, he can no longer operate on your wee child as he was not aware of the full facts of his total team.

A list of new surgeons is now looked at and one is selected being the one with no contact with the hospital and the offending toss pot.

Everyone is now happy!

Aye Right!!
