Aye - that's brilliant. As a kid the Hurricane was my favourite over the Spitfire. And I've sat in a Typhoon cockpit and was part of the team who designed it's navigation systems - so I love the Typhoon also - great in BoB 'livery'
Can't see the vid due to work restrictions, but we used to have the annual Southend Airshow. Got stopped few years back due to funding etc.
However, as a kid I went every year & watched allsorts. My mum is HUGE fan of the Lancaster....to the point where we went to Southend airport after the show.
My mum managed to sweet talk the security guy & one of the pilots/flight crew from the Lancaster walked passed. we were allowed to sit in the plane as it was being taxi'd around. I sat rear gunner!
They have the most amazing engine note!
Personally I prefer the lancs/spits & hurries to any of the jets....
I think mine was also - and I have one upstairs waiting to be constructed
nb - if it wasn't the Hurricane it would have either been a De Havilland Comet or English Electric Lightening. Each was 'bought' from my local RS McColl using vouchers I'd won at my primary school sports.
Saw the whole battle of britain flight come low over the course on way to a fly past at Windsor a few years back. Evocative to see the fighters and planes from through the years up to the modern fighters go over. However nothing trumped the sight and sound of the mighty Lanc as it trundled over
