battered by the wind!!!

Played in a stableford comp today at my home club. The wind was blowing pretty strong and I thought I would struggle big time as I allways do when its really windy.
However I played pretty steady for the first 4 holes and was only 2 over gross, then it was the start of the par5's into an ever increasing strong wind!!
I managed to hold it together really well considering the conditions and had 18pts on the front 9 which I was more than happy with!
Then it started to get REALLY windy! I've never played in wind like it tbh! My mate hit a full 8iron from 100yds to a green and it still came up short! Putts were being blown all over the place and as I have a high ball flight I really struggled of the tee!
Ended up with 25pts; felt I played dome good stuff but the wind was relentless and just got the better of me!
I dont know how you links boys do it!!!

Got to agree strong winds are very difficult to handle,my dads a good wind player,i would say his shots dont get high enough to be effected by the wind,however its windy at his course most days so hes used to it.Myself i hate the wind,so next weeks going to be fun.

The wind was pretty strong over here yesterday too, 35+ and gusting (with the occasional downpour). I usually dont play so well in the strong winds as I hit a very high ball but yesterday was the first time I can honestly say I enjoyed myself in these sorts of conditions round my own course, I hit more fairways than normal, chose driver off the deck with great success and my long irons were like bullets... downside is that I missed more putts than normal, shot 80. bogeyed the final two holes due to harsh pin positions but still happy given the conditions.

Very Gusty here today,my thoughts going to the course was to slow my swing,worked a treat,81-10 h/cap = 71 nett,and missed 3 or 4 birdie putts,enjoyed it though..

Was mental at our place. We have back to back par 5s, the first was uphill into the wind. Driver, 5 wood, 5 wood, 7 iron. Just on green. Next one 5 wood, 9 iron through the green!!

Blobbed 6 holes and scored 27 points. Funny day. Role on a wind free day!

I played in a stableford comp today and i wished I did not turn up!!!! 29 points!!!!! I have a club handicap of 22 but currently I am playing of 15 in all other comps!!! so you can see my disappointment!!! One minute the wind is running riot and the next it dies down..........you select a club for the condititon and as if nature knows your about to take your shot, it changes direction or dies down!!!!

Windiest i have ever played at Blackmoor. Shot a net 75 in the medal today and was 7th out of over 40 when i left the club. Standard Scratch was 73 and rising, par 69.

Didn't help that greens were really fast, and pins in nasty spots. Why didn't i play yesterday ?

Let's have your extremes in today's wind then:

7th hole, 153yds - 5iron landed 8 yards short.
16th hole 279yds - 5 iron pin high.

Driver 3 iron (400 yard dogleg par 4)

Some of our holes are crazy in that they are shielded from the wind until the ball gets to around 50 feet then starts going sideways.

Wedge 160 yards over the green down wind.
16 degree hybrid, out of the screws, 150 yards into the wind. Came up 40 yards short, and putted the next one to keep it down.

Awful, awful, awful, 35 mph winds and I was terrible, absolutely hated it, the greens were covered in twigs, fallen branches, and leaves. Did I mention I was awful?

It was the club foursomes today - 36 holes medal. Net 69 was leading at half time but lots of big numbers in and the wind was getting stronger as the 2nd round started. I went to the practice ground but it was blowing into my face and from left to right so probably the worse combination possible. I nailed some 6 irons that barely made 130 yards and hit several drives flush that barely got anywhere near the 200 yard marker. Only hit 20 or so balls as it was impossible to get any constructive feedback.

pretty windy at my place as well! managed to putt a good round of nett 70 together and hopefully get a nice cut

My go to tee shot for these conditions is ball back in the stance with the driver, grip down, aim 20 yards left and 3/4 easy swing. Good one for pressure situations too as it's reliable. A lot of golfers automatically go full pelt with the driver every time it's out when it's the ideal club for keeping it low. Good shot to learn and fairly easy to execute

Terrible here. (We are on the top of a hill!)
The only good shots I hit were on the side-wind holes.

On the 4th tee, I saw a ball coming in to the 3rd green that was actually going backwards (towards the tee). Spooky
