A course near me was recently closed for a day as large numbers of geese were shot.
The geese weren't resident, they flew in each day for feeding and crapping purposes before flying out in the evening.
A mate of mine has well over a dozen geese in his freezer!
I heard they taste awful that’s why nobody kills them!
We had them on our course but they got someone in to shoot them.

We had issues with geese, especially around the pond on the 18th and yet in the run up to Royal Ascot week they "mysteriously" disappear to protect the helicopters using the course to land on. They haven't returned this year which is unusual but they are a real pest and their poo on the greens a real nightmare

They cleared the Canada Geese with a device called a 'Goosinator' its remote controlled and chases them around, it can also float. Seems to spook them and they then clear off to someone elses course.
