Baseball Cap Fitting Opportunity

I think I know your hat fitter chappie. Last time I saw him he had some Pong logoed hats. I'm worried they might be fakes.

Interestingly Pong don't allow their stuff to be sold online so off the stall it sounds genuine to me (you can mail the serial number to Pong who'll verify it for you)
To be certain it'll have a legend stitched inside that says 'If the caps fits...its fitted'

No Murph, he's gone straight so he's told me. The Pong hats have been long gone, along with the Calloway ones, and to quote him regarding this:

'Nah chief, all me 'ats ar kosha as chrismas!'

Some interesting points and yes, your hat pro (every club has one) will advise and give you lessons on how to don and doff said articles along with your specific bend in the peak should any be required.

La_lucha, is it a Spock type issue you're facing as I have never seen him in a baseball cap either? However, I'm sure Dave from North Weald market will be able to find a bonce covering for you that you will be happy with and it will help you find those elusive 4 extra yards. I have just spoken to him and his quote is below after asking him if high sitting ears posed an issue with the fitting process:

'Nah guv'nor, the furver up th'ed the be'er! Ask 'im if hees tried a miliry cap'

From this I deduce that he is asking if you have tried a military cap?

As for the logo for the mixed bag chap, Dave will be able to assist you by fitting you for a hat that has absolutley no relevance to the rest of your bag. I have a feeling he'd fit you for a Southend-on-Sea hat, or maybe one of those cheeky kiss me quick, squeeze me slow bowlers that used to be sported around the Southend area years ago. I believe he has just received a batch of smoke damaged stock at a knock down price!

Anyway, keep them coming, this is entertaining me on a rainy Friday! :)

Dave from North Weald Market hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. I have a military style cap of Animal branding. It's a really nice cap, however I have to wear it so far up my head I look like this:-ASC_2209_1600x1200.jpg

For some reason it even creates the dark rings around my eyes.

I had a professional cap fitting done at The Grove, wasn't cheap at £125 but they did throw in a free round of golf with it :)

I had a go with that Hat DNA thingy. It's a speciallly made cap with a stress gauge which measures 4 key parameters for your ideal fit, I think its peak stiffness, peak arc, head band release and crown flex.

My numbers were 3 - 5 - 4 - 5 which gave me 3 recommended choices to try. I ended up with a soft, mid weight, cotton baseball cap with adjustable head band and regular curved peak.

Now just to try it on the course. Should save me a much of shots.

You forgot the most important details......What brand is written on it and what colour is it?

Any one else got the Titleist hats that are seconds.... Apparently there was a branding issue when they ran out of cotton and could not get the letters from "L" onwards
They are very rare ...

I bought a starter hat to get into it but I am worried I wasted my money. Should I pay for a fitting or will I get more hat for my money at hatbidder, maybe even have enough left over for a ball marker attachment? I normally go for brighter hats so people don't take their tee shots when I am in a bush looking for my ball.

I'm playing off 20 just now, and have a standard TaylorMade hat. I know Mizuno and Titleist are seen as better hats, but is it daft for someone like me to get fitted for one? I have seen them at various Pro shops, and they look gorgeous. But I just don't know if it's worth me making a purchase like this whilst I'm still a mid-high handicapper.

Also, I have a much, much larger than average head, would they be able to even fit a hat for me?

Pah ... It's all marketing hype

I've still got the red cotton cap my dad played in back in the 1960s
Nothing wrong with it and my handicap is fine
A real cap like this makes you a better player, as you have to hit good shots to be able to wear it

I have a variety of hats that I can swap out depending on the conditions and the course im playing however I feel I may be missing out on consistency here and wonderd if anyone can suggest a good all round hat?

Personally, I prefer the adjustable hats as opposed to the fixed ones.

I find I can adjust them exactly to my head and not have to worry.

To remove all doubt I had my pro adjust mine and I haven't tinkered with it since.

I'm very happy with my current cap, so shall not be entering.

Best of luck to those who do

I bend my peak depending on the break of the green, this simple visual aid really helps alignment and will take off 4 putts per round, unless experienced please do not wear hat backwards as this can result in serious injury + a potential 3 putt.

Just a word of warning to any higher handicappers on here thinking about a new cap.......

Do not try going straight to a visor until you are an accomplished player, the SGI peak cap will give you much better results. I made this mistake when I first started out
