Dear all,

Coming from the second home of the baseball cap, Essex, I believe that we are missing out on a trick here and as such would like to host a fitting opportunity to help your game no end. A professional cap fitter has been sourced from the worldwide renown North Weald Market to ensure the perfect fit for your follicles. Is the peak too large? Is the band too tight? Is the logo bright enough so everyone knows what clubs not to buy when my first shot shanks OOB?

If you would like to be considered please leave your details below and 3 lucky forum members will be picked at random for this rare opportunity to look the part on the course.

Please state:

Current Hat Type?
Current Logo?
Fitted or one size fits all?
Why you feel the prospect of being fitted for a new hat is for you?

Good luck!

CK

This is not an actual opportunity, it's just for fun but any of you are welcome to come and join me for a round with or without hats whenever you wish...

I'm currently gaming two hats at the moment

One I got from the club so I kinda feel obliged to wear it as its branded for them & the other is a pre-2011 Nike. I know I'll get more distance from a 2013 model (4yrds if the hype is to be believed) but feel I don't have a consistent enough hair length to warrant the spend

Would fitting really make a difference for me as I play off a high handicap?

I don't think you should get too hung up on the type of hat you wear,it's more to do with the ball marker hat clip.

Slab - the 4yards is only if the cap is fitted correctly for you, it's worth the time and money I'm sure to be further OOB... :)

Pin-seeker - Watch this space, we have an opportunity for our friends in the North for the ball marker hat clip fitting so that they are spread out.

I have a friend who needs this, I saw him spend 5 minutes moving his marker round the cap searching for the magnet that he believed was fitted inside the peak!
(after picking up said marker several times he got the message...)

I'm definitely in,Email on the way. & with only one infraction to my name & all the positive posts I contribute to the forum I expect to be one of the lucky ones:thup:

Also I'd be inclined to look at a specialist fitter and not American Golf. I had a bad experience in American golf , the assistant didn't seem very competent with the Capman monitor and I don't think they really paid much attention to my forehead loft and hair stiffness.

I ended up getting a hat that wasn't right for me.

You are all way off. It's the angle of the bend in the peak that makes the real difference. Any competent fitter would know this.
Just look at Fowler and Mahan, straight across (we call that "red-neck stylee) and not a hope in hell of winning anything of note simply due to the aerodynamic impediment that this gives.
Now look at messers Woods and McIlroy. In their multiple major winning pomp the peak slope angle was steep and had gave a great head lag. Now look at them, the peak angle is too shallow now and it's seriously affecting their performance.

Disclaimer: The above is neither sense nor science and should be taken with a pinch of salt the size of a salt mine.

Presumably, since most baseball caps are one size fits all, this is more to do with the size and bend of the peak than how the cap actually fits?

You can see a vast improvement in the bend of the peak of GIBBO's visor after a recent range session with James.
And people suggested 12hrs was too long.

You lot laugh but this is a genuine issue for me. My ears are too far up my head to allow me to wear a standard cap i.e. my ears stick out or the cap sits too high. Sometimes I tuck my ears into the cap but this feels a bit stupid. As it is I currently have a childs Nike cap and a Taylormade cap that's been shrunk. If a cap fitting was genuinely available I should be top of that list.

Pure genius, on a par with Karl Pilkington :D
(Take a bow)

Some interesting points and yes, your hat pro (every club has one) will advise and give you lessons on how to don and doff said articles along with your specific bend in the peak should any be required.

La_lucha, is it a Spock type issue you're facing as I have never seen him in a baseball cap either? However, I'm sure Dave from North Weald market will be able to find a bonce covering for you that you will be happy with and it will help you find those elusive 4 extra yards. I have just spoken to him and his quote is below after asking him if high sitting ears posed an issue with the fitting process:

'Nah guv'nor, the furver up th'ed the be'er! Ask 'im if hees tried a miliry cap'

From this I deduce that he is asking if you have tried a military cap?

As for the logo for the mixed bag chap, Dave will be able to assist you by fitting you for a hat that has absolutley no relevance to the rest of your bag. I have a feeling he'd fit you for a Southend-on-Sea hat, or maybe one of those cheeky kiss me quick, squeeze me slow bowlers that used to be sported around the Southend area years ago. I believe he has just received a batch of smoke damaged stock at a knock down price!

Anyway, keep them coming, this is entertaining me on a rainy Friday! :)
