Bands/Artists that you should like.... But don't!

i know Lou. I was only teasing (a bit). I'm really surprised at some if the bands mentioned though. The Stone Roses were the band that first got me into music. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard Fools Gold. I used to spend most weekends in Manchester. Traipsing round Afflecks palace listening to the music the stalls were playing. I used to save my pocket money and buy vinyl from Eastern Bloc records. I used to get the train into Piccadilly then hitch a lift home at about 3 in the morning. The Manchester scene was my musical genesis.

The thing is if someone is a fan of say Metal, they probably wont like the Roses, but in my mind, that would not be a band you should like but dont. There are loads of very popular bands/singers that I dont like but they dont play the type of music I like so I wouldnt include them in a "bands I should like but dont thread"

I grewup at a time when almost everyone in high school carried a copy of Country Life by Roxy Music under their arm. Good cover graphic but the LP didn't do anything for me. So I'll add Roxy Music and Brian Ferry to the list.

Coldplay- Mard arse posh boys, I can't understand how they make any sales, everyone seems to think they're crap.

RHCP, Rolling Stones,Mumford n Sons, The Who,and stick Pink floyd on the list too! I don't dislike them, They just don't do it for me.

I think everyone seems to think they have to say they are crap. As it's an easy target, and the person saying it usually thinks they are cool by slagging them off, as they are normally judging them on a preconceived and distorted image fed by the media. It's the same with people who say The Smiths are depressing, U2 are do gooders, Radiohead are weird etc etc.

Also the posh thing is wrong as they are educated, which is different from being posh. Whatever posh is.

Personally I thought the first 2 albums Coldplay were excellent, not really bought anything from them since, but I'd much rather listen to them than the vast majority of the pre-war music that golfers seem to like, judging by the responses in this and other threads.

And not that Chris Martin is that bothered I suspect, seeing as he has more money that Croesus and is married to a very attractive Hollywood film star.

Mumford and Sons are great...refreshingly different!

If by "refreshingly different" you mean "two albums of songs that sound EXACTLY THE SAME", then yes, I suppose they are.

Awful stuff.

My list is endless, but a few off the top of my head;

Ed Sheeran (awful lyrics. Jason Mraz does what Ed Sheeran does, but is actually good at it).
The Stones
Led Zeppelin
The Doors
Kings of Leon (they're "ok" but I'd never waste money on buying an album)
The Killers

I could go on for hours.
