Balls

I play off 5 and use the TM Penta TP.

The simple answer is, it really doesn't matter which ball you use as long as you always stick to the same one. The important thing is to know how it will react on each type of shot so you can play it accordingly. Distance, soft feel, premium, hi spin.....doesn't matter. Different balls will have different results for each individual, the trick is to find the right ball at the right price for you then stick with it.

Hi

my handicap is that i`m fat

I use srixon soft feel balls (ooooer) they are the same price as the ad33333333`s or however many threes there are

Interesting there is not much love for the AD333. I've played a lot with ProV 1'a and Nikes etc and really like them. The fact they are quite cheap is a bonus.

Good point above about getting to know and sticking with one type of ball though.

I play off 9 and have half used boxes of ball of various types, depending on my mood and conditions.... I am nothing if not inconsistent

Srixon Ad333s
Wilson DX3
Titlesit NXT Tour
Pro V1x

and now got a dozen Callaway Hex Tour Chrome, just because I fancied trying something different.

TBH I sometimes change balls and brands purely though boredom or on a whim..... I must be a marketing man's dream.

I will use any mid priced ball with a softish feel. Don't really see much difference in them really. Guess I'm just not good enough. Like some of the guys.

I'm off 9 and use prov1 and on windy days prov1x.
would use the bridgestone 330RXS if i didn't have loads of pro v's.

If im honest i could use anything, as this is exactly what i did untill i got down to 10.
had load of good round using all sorts from warbirds to pinnicle lady;)

I'd like to commit to a particular ball but haven't been able to - just call me capricious

I currently favour the Srixon Soft Feel and prior to that the AD333 and prior to that the Soft Feel! Just felt the AD333 recently weren't lucky for me and played a blinder with the Soft Feel so that's where I'm at. Just ordered some Srixon Soft Feel Lady as they are cheaper (on Ebay) and from what I've read hardly any (if any) difference from the standard Soft Feel. I have also played with the Pinnacle Precision which are cheap and liked them but they scuff up too easily and I like a sparkly white ball. I like many of the Callaway balls although the Warbird is too hard and clicky for me. Looking forward to trying the Black Hex Tour I recently received

Ah, the old chestnut.

If I played off 18, I wouldn't bother with a Pro-V, no.

However, I think it's fair enough to use any ball you feel happy with and can afford to play.

Also, if you putt and chip better with a certain ball, who's to say a player might be off 20 in a few months with more putts and chips :)

I'm currently trying to persuade some folks down the club to NOT pull out the £40/dozen balls for bounce games.

After a certain point I think it doesn't make much difference. In the last few weeks I've shot the same scores with a srixon ad333/Wilson PX3/Bridgestone e6/srixon ZStar/TM penta/Nike 20XI .... Plus many others in the last year.

Once you find one that doesn't annoy you with the sound/feel then I think you'll be happy. Now if your happy paying £30/£40 per dozen then great, but if your scores are no different between them and £12 per dozen then why bother! If you handicap doesn't come shooting don't then I guess your £40 ball is no better than my freebie pickup ;)

H/C 21 and play AD333

reason being is I bought a load cheap plus got some via shout for srixon promo. Down to my last dozen and just bought some DX2's so if they go well I will play them for a while.

I have played hx tour, hex black, nike pd soft, zstar, pro v1/v1x and tbh at my level I couldnt really say one way or the other if they helped or hindered overall.

I once broke a course record with a Pinnacle

I am at 12 handicapper and I have been playing recently with prov1x I like the way it felt off the putter face and that was key for me, I have used them since I was about a 20 handicapper, how ever I dont like the way they cut up. So I have just bought some nxt tour s to try and plus I like the fact I can be different and use a yellow ball not just be all the same.

How ever what everyone else said once you find a ball you like then I would stick with it but be wary of the fact manufactures change balls year upon year, for example the pro v range they tend to come out with a new one each year. So the ball you used last year could have different characteristics to the new dozen you bought this year.

There's no real difference between the majority of balls in each bracket.
There will be some that stand out, either as good or bad, but the bulk are very similar..
At the moment I'm not using anything decent mainly as I'm not very straight off the tee. With the rough as harsh as it is and the greens soft I'm using any old POS ball...
Normally I'd use a premium ball but I'm really not fussed which..

official handicap 26 but I would class myself as around 18-19(dont ask). Currently using Bridgestone E6 for windy days and NXT Tours for normal days. If I go anyway where the greens are very hard I use Srixon Z stars as they stop stupidly fast. Shot my best round ever today with a Z-Star however I dont feel it was a major factor in my score today. I do not particularly dislike any ball except dunlops and top flites.

I am currently using a ProV1 which is tatty and I found in a bush. I haven't lost it for 2 rounds so far, but whenever I get a shiney out the packet it goes and hides somewhere.

I use Noodle+ balls, which are cheap and I think they are made by Maxfli?! Normally £12 a dozen, I like the 333's too.

I'm not good enough to be able to tell the difference between golf balls and hack around with anything I find
