Good evening all, I know you are supposed to strike ball then turf, however, I almost always hit a touch behind the ball and hit turf then ball.
I generally hit about 2mm behind the ball - sometimes I get it perfect bus most of the time I dont. It may not seem impostant but when its wet it really can mean the difference on hitting and missing a green.

Any ideas on drills to get me hitting the ball then turf - as i said above I am very close but its still not right.

Try pushing an old tee peg into the ground about 1 cm in front of the ball. You have to strike down on the ball and take a nice divot in order to send it flying which is your objective.

You lose a lot of power when this happens, I know, I was doing this a few times playing Bobmac, it was just a case of losing it that day but normally I get a good strike and distance.

Get a pro to look at you if it worries you a lot because it may be something simple like addressing minutely out of your normal position, it may be something else too.
Personally it feels awful to me and really annoys me when it occasionally happens regardless of how good the shot result may be.

I played a few holes today, I kept thinning the ball and therefore taking no divot. Had a few balls on the out door range after and got the problem sorted, taking a nice divot again.

I think because i'd been playing so well I was lifting my head to quickly to see my shot. All i practised was keeping my head down and I was hitting the ball lovely again.

Try everything you can to get yourself taking a divot.
