Ball Fitting_ Do we need one?

I'm sticking with Mizzy D201's and Wilson DX2's because they seem to spin less of the driver

Love the 201's it's the first ball I've managed to play multiple rounds with, without losing one

so if you want a ball that feels firm off the tee, soft off the putter and with a high spin cover around the greens there will be one, or more, out there.

According to the manufacturers marketing departments every ball is like that now

well i was lucky to get a ball fitting at the Manchester Golf show last year. Titelest had a stand and worked out the pro V1 was the best ball for my game. I was then given 2 sleeves of balls for free!

now the £1m question did they improve my game, to be honest dont know the 1st ball i hit went out of bounds on my course never to be seen again lol!

Titleist in fitting someone for their most expensive ball shocker !!

I seem to have a habbit of losing my dunlop specials and finding Pro V's in the bushes instead.

This is why a Titleist ball fitting is imo a joke.

One of the better players I know uses an old set of beat up irons and Dunlop balls. If I mentioned club or ball fitting to him he would be spitting feathers :blah:

His perspective is it's a simple game and as long as the ball is round and bounces it will roll and stop. The key he says, is knowing where and how to hit the ball so it stops where you want it to .

He makes it sound and look so easy but it works for him.

I had a recent ball fitting at work.. Bridgestone fitted me to a summer and winter ball..
I have always used pro v1x but by changing to the Bridgestone b330 lowered my side spin by 250rpm. I was advised this would be a great summer golf ball for me. The lower spin ball gave me a lower flight and lowered drawspin so the ball went a little straighter. Over 10 shots dispersion was 9yds better and avg 16yrds longer.

The softer compression keeps the longer clubs straighter and the spin cover gives good control in the shorter clubs and gives a soft feel off the putter.

I was told to use the 2 piece e5 in the winter softer ball but higher flight and more carry.

I have also had a play with the Nike 20xi spin ball and was very impressed..

If im honest the ball makes a difference but user error is user error it does not matter what ball u have.
