Hey folks, after having just changed my irons I am back to the 'what set up' should I go with question.

Currently I go
Driver
3 wood
20 deg
4-pw
52/58
Putter
So I have a space! Do I need to fill it? Not really. Would I like to? Course I would :)
The pw is 47 so I could go 52-56-60, but I like my wedges, and the current set up involves no confusion, my pw goes 125, my 52 goes 110-115 and my 58 is 90 and in, I can work to inbetweens fine with what I have.
My other opts are another hybrid or a 3i.

Just looking your opinions for a bit fun. Cheers

That's a tough one as its rare I think about, only going into par 5s in two. I am quite fortunate that I hit a good ball, but maybe 20 yards or so? main diff is flight, 3 wood I hit with very penetrating flight, the hybrid I can work high or low.

Maybe a 17° hybrid or 18/19° 5 wood to give you a higher flying shot that still gets it out there a bit...
Only real gap I can see - apart from the wedges and you have that covered..

Cheers imurg, I was looking at another hybrid but was thinking maybe.23 or so, I realise it will be not to dissimilar to my 4 iron but could stop a bit quicker with higher flight.

Personally, I'd go for a 3 iron or maybe a driving iron

It would depend on what courses you're playing more as well, if it's a course with a lot of thick rough around then maybe an extra wedge would be better.

If you play a lot on links then a driving iron would be good, something like the Mizuno H5 I'd go for

If you never have reason to think (even briefly) I wish I had X as an option then don't worry about it - if on the other hand you do (as an example) wish you had something a little more lofted than the 3 wood, or the current hybrid, then just get something to see if you use it.

There isn't a right bag - only what works for you.

this is exactly what i was thinking

I have the same set up and dilemma as you but am really comfortable with my set up and feel I have everything covered. Maybe 13 is all you need.

Do you really need 14 clubs? I know we're allowed to carry them but like your wedges you don't have the confusion as what to hit. Some of my best scores have been with a half set.
I'd leave as is personally

I've already got 14 because I have an extra wedge to you.

If I could have another club, I'd love to replace my hybrid (which splits the difference between 3w and 4i) with a 5w and 3i.

If I was adding another club this min it would be a 3i purely for off the tee on windy days and that's maybe what I will edge toward, but no rush.
Thanks again folks, it's a good one to think about I reckon as there is so much choice out there and no choice is gonna be wrong, just different.

Would you go for a driving iron or normal 3 iron though? I have been debating a driving 2 iron for playing into the wind.

If I buy a 3 I will get it to match my irons, I have bought the different ones before, driving iron types and just prefer a match to my set.
I can see why some people do like the driving ones, a friend has a ping 2i that's a driving type and loves it, maybe I should try a couple of the new ones and see.
