bad tempers on the golf course

my friend throw is driver up a tree ,he says the club head wouldn't sit flat on the ground when setting up,so the next golf round he had a different club he used that for about 2 months and he couldn't use that either but carried on with it,,,fed up of listening to is complaints about his driver ,,the next time we played the course were is club went up the tree ,,i looked for the old club and it was there at the bottom of the tree behind a bush ,,he wanted it back did his next tee shot with it ,,,straight as a bullet still using it today

the truth is he as a full swing like john Daley were there is alot that can go wrong & it does ,for him

the worst is when the guy is playing as well or maybe a bit better and goes mad throwing clubs that really puts me off. although i do like watching someone im playing against getting fustrated at times :)

I seem to remember the fourball I was in at Camberley last summer had a few scratch swearers in there. One may even have been off a + tourrette figue especially at 16. I do get annoyed but have calmed down a lot. Actually it isn't annoyance anymore but sheer frustration. You work hard at the game and execute well and then suddenly throw in some bad shots from nowhere and the technique disappears. Ho hum I guess thats why I'll never be any good

my mate is one for club and ball chucking, but whenever he does it just makes me laugh, which makes him worse.
to look at he's the epitome of a battle scarred hooker but so sensitive he can hear a butterfly fart in a thunderstorm.

Not a thrower but at the belfry last year 3 duff wedges from 60 yards, 50 yards then 40 yards saw my 52* go straight over my knee, I swear to this day the 19.00 reshaft was worth every penny. The most therapeutic thing I have done on a golf course since I was 18 when me and the missed went for a stroll after a comp round ;)

Guilty (I think)

The only club of mine that gets lobbed from time to time is the putter. Had a 5' putt for birdie last Sunday on our 13th, walked off with bogey. I sure did take it out on my flat stick.
And when a 10' birdie putt on the 6th at Bearwood Lakes saw me walking off with a double bogie once I came the closest to snapping it over my knee that I have ever come. I ended up lobbing it again.
Not pretty, not big....but it sure makes me feel better.
PS I always make sure I never, ever throw it in the direction of my playing partners.

I have to confess to throwing a club recently. Was playing really badly already 5 shots down on my partner hit a bad 8 iron approch on the 7th probably went 40 yards over the back. Got the pw out and chipped on quite short. The red mist came over me and the club was thrown about 20 yards towards the bag. Then punched the next shot about 2 yards from the hole. Putting for par. Still had the rage even after that. Strange old game. I and trying hard now to keep my head as it just not enjoyable when I lose it and doesnt help!

Temper tantrums on the course make me laugh. I try not to laugh in their face for fear it'll make them worse but seriously, it doesn't help and as shown on a few posts on here can make things worse.

Life is far too short to let a game get to you that much - if I was like that I think I'd find some other sport to play before I gave myself a heart attack! Maybe dominos.

Well ive already posted a thread on my recent experience of the red mist and from that I have learnt a lesson and am now trying to manage my behaviour on the course. Played 3 times since Saturday and manged to mostly keep it together or at least think carefully before blowing up. It has result I am delighted to say in an improvement in form and more enjoyment would you believe. I still had a number of occasions where i could of lost it but hey as we all have said dont let one bad shot ruin a round and secondly if its not your day so be it and suck it up.Look forward to the beer!!!

I watched how Ernie Els held it together and even gave an interview last week after bogying the last two holes to not only miss the play off loose the comp but also to miss a Masters place. how he didnt ram a 3 iron up the nose of the interviewer after "that" question i will never know. Fair play to him what a classy chap. As for golfers loosing their tempers being child beaters..... mate thats a little bit OTT.

Used to play with a Guy who would thrash his bag with his putter when he missed from 8ft or less. He used to throw clubs occasionally too. He slowed down a bit when he miseed his bag with the putter and hit his toe instead :)
