This one really took the biscuit. Was playing an event today where we have a double tee and the markers were pretty close together. I teed it up by mistake between one for the 2nd hole and one for the 9th.

The two guys I'm playing with point it out AFTER I've hit so I'm three off the tee. And then I find out that they both noticed before hand I was doing it but thought I would be in contention for a good score so wanted me to get the penalty.

What a pair of complete and utter idiots.

But just to prove I was better than them, one of them was about to putt from the wrong place having moved his marker so I pointed it out. The irony when he said "thanks I would have got a penalty otherwise" was just dripping.

The golfing gods should come down hard on them possibly shankitis or 3jabbis!!!!!!
Golf Karma! Got a dose of that on Sunday. It's not nice. Smashed a driver off the dog leg 7th, the fade came out and we thought it was lost in the trees OB so hit another one which followed a similar kind of line, then hit another and duffed it. One of my playing partners walked up and told me my first was in the middle of the fairway. I couldn't believe my luck, then proceeded to shank and duff my way down to the green and 3 putt.

I'm with a few others on here, I'd say 'screw the moral high ground' and would of dished out a dose of his own medicine!

That would of royal pissed me off if a playing partner of mine had done that to me!

I have pointed this out a few times to people I'm playing with. Always wondered though, is it classed as advice? Would hate to play with a rule anal player and find they expect me to take the penalty for giving advice.

I'd love to know if you said anything on both accounts?

1: when you found out about the T shot.
2: when he said about the penalty he would have got from the put.

I'd have told him before the put, but then my 1Amp fuse would have popped and I'd have given them a piece of my mind and thoughts!

Advice is defined as

"Advice" is any counsel or suggestion that could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method of making a stroke.

Information on the Rules, distance or matters of public information, such as the position of hazards or the flagstick on the putting green, is not advice.

So perfectly OK to tell someone that they are about to break a rule, or what the Rules are.

I remember hearing a story on here......
Scratch medal comp.....
Player A misses his putt on the 17th and it stops on the edge. In frustration, he picks it up and doesn't hole out.
Player B doesn't tell him until AFTER player A hits his drive on the 18th.

Sneaky or what
