Interestingly, for me anyway I have always faired better on our front nine holes.
Until one round where I was a couple under on our back 9 after having a previous best of
two over.
During this time I had been 4 under a couple of times on our front nine.
When I had my 2 under my mind set changed about the back 9 and now im pretty
good on either depending on the day of course.
Now I have been 4 under on both.
How do you fair on your front and back and did you have a preference before
something changed?

for me it usually depends, if i have a good front 9 I play crap on the back and if i play badly on the front you can bet i will shoot level par and scrape buffer;)

Of late, I've been playing better on the back 9.

Saturday was

Bogey

Par
Par

Par
Bogey
Bogey

Front 9 was similar but the an extra bogey thrown in for good measure

Much more often than not, my back 9 is significantly better than the front 9 even though it is the harder 9. I put it down to lack of preparation and warm-up - I can't be bothered with that sort of thing.

Usually better on the front nine by 3 or 4 shots, despite the front nine being 36 par compared to 35 on the back nine. The two par 3's on the back nine are definitely harder than the two on the front nine.

Four over on the front and five over on the back both is my best. Funny really because I think the back nine is easier my PB is still 81 I have never managed to break 80.

Neither of these in comps in comps my pb is 84 and 7 / 5 over front and back

Maybe next year......

Not too fussed about front or back nine scoring, like everyone I've had successes and disasters on both. Statistically there's no difference either. -3 is my best on each, not at the same time - yet ;)

I always think I play front 9 better but my scores on the back 9 seem a lot better

Why post such a pointless reply then.
Absolutely baffling the rubbish that is spouted on here at times.
As a forum stalwart I would have though you would of had a little more about you than that.

Why is it pointless? I honestly don't know whether I fair better on the front or back and I don't want to know. Lets say I was better on the front and played badly, immediately I'd be thinking that I still had the worse nine to come. Knowing or thinking you have a worse nine is negative thinking. My aim is always to par every hole I have left, separating into two nines is detrimental.

I definitely score better on the front nine, my best competition round of the year was 39 followed by 44 and HDiD shows an average 2 shot difference over the season.

As our front 9 plays 4 shots easier on average (same par) it's not a representative course!

Elsewhere I also find it course dependent though.

I'm like this currently, if I come out the traps well I throw it away on the back, which is tougher, but If I'm slow out the traps I have a very good back 9, its so frustrating

Are you still at the 9 hole, Fish?

May this be part of it - play a good 9, think I can do this again, but sometimes try to hit that same great drive first time around with that extra 10%?
