Awful rule

I remember Ken Brown doing a piece on the course at Augusta where he literally blew the ball once and it travelled about twenty foot
He likes a fast green does Ken.......he designed our course. Our greens were stimping at 11.8 yesterday for our club championships.........wind and heavy rain cut the round short and it was abandoned in the end to be replayed over 2 days in Sept.

Perhaps it may be an idea for greenkeepers not to prepare the greens so rediculously fast? A common fault with many many courses. As for the ruling, yes it is unfair and it should be a different ruling on the green from elsewhere on the course.

The greens were kept deliberately slow because of the wind, if they made them any slower the players would complain.

It's a ridiculous rule - period

As well as being a bad rule, it also slows play up considerably with players hovering over their putt not daring to breath and continuously backing off.

The R&A is supposed to be encouraging faster play, changing this rule would help that aim.
