Rather than post on every trip, please pull me from Beau and Woodhall. We've had our meeting regarding redundancies and although I dodged a bullet this time the chances of escaping in 2011 are slim as we're looking to go from 32 to 17 heads from 1st April. I'd rather not pay for something I might have to pull out of later or incur travelling costs if I don't have any income coming in

Sorry to hear this Homer..seriously.

By the way, which Woodhall Spa trip are you talking about? Your not on my list for April mate.
Do you want me to scrub you from the Cooden day as well???
Chin up geezer

Know what your going through Homer - we're looking at 20 - 30% reduction across my department; I'm not exactly built for hiding behind plants / cupboards and keeping out of sight!!! Might actually mean that I start having to do some work though............ :D

Smiffy et al

Just take me out of anything I've said yes to. Cooden please Smiffy. Its a bummer. We're a team of 11 going to a team of 5 (how they expect us to perform a meaningful service......) HR going from 11 to three HR officers and 2 business partners. Not quite sure of the rest although I know some are on 30 days consultation already

Sorry to hear about this Homer. Let's hope that you are one of the lucky ones to get through the cull.

I do feel for you. In the early '90's, (that is 1990's Smiffy and Murph !!) I suffered redundancy twice in 2 years and was out of work for 18 out of the next 24 months. If the worst happens, with the right attitude you will get through it.

And bu33er. I was looking forward to taking your money at Cooden to supplement my pension :D :D :D

Btw. Do we blame Pants for this. :p I seem to remember he was into corporate culling or similar in the public sector?

Cheers for the support. I have been made redundant twice before and last time it took me 8 months to get back into employment (although it was the start of the season so I may not have given job hunting 100% attention). I've survived this time and providing the process is open and fair and based on performance rather than personality then I should be be ok although you can never be totally confident.

I think in lieu of another suitable scapegoat we'll lay the blame fully at the door of Pants (the scoundrel). I'll get through and look on the bright side, if am out of work think how many posts per day I can make

Oy!! I think that I should be offended.  ;)

I've been called many things in my time but "scoundrel"? Never

I have to admit that mine is not a pleasant job but someone has got to do it. If not me then perhaps someone not quite so nice. :o

I did eventually manage to get a game in at your place a while ago whilst working in the area and can see why you are looking at other courses as possible venues for next years "spring" meeting. It's got the makings of a nice course but it will take several years to start maturing and I can't really see it doing justice to a full-blown forum meet.

How did it keep it's "Royal" status when it moved from within the racecourse to it's present location? The reviews I've seen of "Royal" courses have mainly been excellent but the 2 that I have played, Royal Blackheath and Royal Ascot, have left me very disappointed - and I'm not even a half reasonable or particularly discerning golfer.

It's a shame you discarded Richart's offer to help organise the meet at Blackmoor. It looks like a superb location for it and, with Smiffy's thumbs up on it, I think you have missed a trick.

Anyway, keep your head down and your pecker up and hopefully you will get through the current crisis. At least you are safe from me. :D :D

I'm sorry you didn't like the course but lets get a few things straight. It's already hosted two big GM meets. I've taken a number of other GM Forum members around it as guests and it has played host to South PGA Regional Qualifiers, BBO PGA events and county matches.
I'm not sure when you played it so can't comment on the condition at that time.

The Royal status wwas bestowed by Queen Victoria and approved by HM when we were forcibly moved by the racecourse and offered the Crown land the course is now on and we have the Duke of York as our Patron. Once granted the Royal Patronage can be revoked but isn't dependant upon venue.

Finally and more importantly get your facts straight. I haven't discarded Richarts offer at all. He and I have been in contact via PM about organising another GM day at Ascot as well as the possibility of another one at his place or him offering forum members the chance to play there as his guest.

I have no qualms with your comments on the course as they are your opinions and you're perfectly entitled to voice them but please make sure you are accurate in your comments if you are going to critiscise

I would like to play Blackmoor looks great and not a million miles from Sandhurst. Will keep an eye out for your post, cheers.

A shame about your predicament at work Homer, hope it works out OK for you.

Good luck Homer. GDP came in way higher than expected for the second consecutive quarter today - maybe more progress is happening behind the scenes than the doom-laden headlines are implying!
