Augusta National golf course

Is the course at Augusta…

  • A great golf course?

  • An excellent and fair test of golf?

  • A course that punishes golfers unfairly?

I can't really answer this. My hatred for this golf course is harsh. Not the course itself....just all the horrible things that are attached to it.

But if they're playing well....

The greens are what makes the Masters so special.
I mean, if it was too easy the naysayers would say it's just a Mickey Mouse course.
I get that but good shots get punished and mediocre ones sometimes not. The soft greens are making it look reasonable today.

Peter Allis used to say “ is that really golf”

There are some things that just make the best in the world look silly.

Scheffler hit one today landed 12” from the pin spun off the green sideways nearly into a bunker.
But some people like that stuff.

Peter Allis used to say Zack Johnson’s wife would like a new kitchen…

I think the main reason I enjoy the Masters is it signals the start of the golf season over here. I think it's a hard course due to the slopes on the fairways and the punishing speed of the greens. I think there's loads of courses around the world that could be equally difficult if they tricked up the greens.

Make them firm ,fast and bumpy like ours 😉

Ours are quite sloping and when they make them to fast it’s just silly.
You can hit a two foot put off the green.
